WE MUST ALL BE ONE STEP AHEAD OF THESE *****RS THAT STEAL FROM US. CRIMINALLS WILL ALWAYS COME OUT WITH NEW SCAMS, THE ONLY TIME WE GET TO HERE ABOUT THEM IS THROUGH PERSONAL EXPERIENCES OR HAVING SPOKEN TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN SCAMMED.

FATTB THANKYOU

1.Always back your car into a space.
2.Always find a space that is nearest the exit
3.and that takes the least manouvering to get to the exit (your living space)

This is the way I would think about it from a professional point of view. But these rules also apply to your own personal security - especialy if you drive a desirable car.

Next time you go to a car park say at a supermarket. Look and see how many expensive cars are parked in frontways (These are the potential victims) and how many are backed in for a swift exit if need be. I bet you spot more potential victims than you do non victims.

Maybe because if you reverse in and someone parks in the space behind it becomes impossible to get your shopping in the boot? Not saying that driving in frontways is right - but I bet that's why most supermarket shoppers do it.

It is a myth and obviously American from the wording.

I'm sure that it's given a few people ideas though, hence why you may have seen instances of it, or similiar. Another reason why these 'myths' should not be posted.

Won't happen to anyone here though - surely no Scoob owner would leave keys in the ignition, ever.

Some other ones you should watch out for:

a) Three men approach you as you are getting out of your car and one of them says "hey mate do you mind if I take a look in there? I thought I saw smoke as you drove in" (this is why only do it when you are getting out).

If you say yes then they get in the car and steal it. If you say no then they move on to an easier target.

b) A workman on an overhead ladder spills paint on your car and then he tells you he knows a place you can get it cleaned cheap. If you say yes he takes you to a rough neighbourhood where they beat you up and steal your car. Never say yes if this happens unless you are participating in a sting operation.

c) While driving on the motorway an open back van pulls alongside you at the same speed and some people in the back reach over with sticks and grab your windscreen wipers. It's not the entire car but it's still stealing and it might rain later.

I am not aware of these techniques ever being used successfully or not, but it is better to vigilant.

I was questioning your post about you implying that there have been several thefts of cars in your area using the mythical paper on the back window method. Either that or you mean hikacking of vehicles in general, in which case you should have specifically said that, given the topic in hand and not made such an ambiguous statement.

there is a well known spot in Bootle, Liverpool where people leave rubbish in the road just after a single lane tiny hump back bridge so after driving through you have to get out to move it to continue, then they either just rob the car or **** you then rob the car lol.

Just gotta keep your whits about you always now eh!! ****e but true!
