Default New technique to steal your Scoob

Saw this on another forum thought it was worth posting in the main Scoob section

Be aware of new car-jacking scheme. This is the method now being used please be aware of your vulnerability

Their Method:-

You walk across the car park, unlock your car and get inside. Then you lock all your doors, start the engine and shift or put into reverse. You look into the rear-view mirror to back out of your parking space and you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window.

So, you shift the gear stick back into park or neutral, unlock your doors and jump out of your car to remove that paper or whatever it is that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of your car that is when the car-jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off!! Your engine was running, you would have left your purse/documents in the car and they practically mow you down as they speed off in your vehicle.

BE AWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED IN GLASGOW AND MANCHESTER AND IS MAKING ITS WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY!

Your Method:-

Just drive away and remove the paper later! It is stuck to your window and be thankful that you have read this safety alert. I hope you will forward this to friends and family especially to women!

A purse, wallet or documents contains all identification, and you certainly do NOT want someone getting your home address. They already HAVE your keys!!! JUST BE AWARE AND TAKE CARE IT WILL PROBABLY SOON ARRIVE IN YOUR AREA.

What had happened exactly? If this has started happening it's a myth that's turned into reality. People spam mailing each other and posting the drivel on BBS forums have alerted the crims on a new way to nick a car.

Also I dealt with one the other day..... two guys come to view someones car they had for sale in the autotrader. Had a look round the car and then got the guy to take them for a test drive. Half way round the test drive they pull a knife on him and tell him to get out. He obviously did and they drove off with his car.

I managed to get his car back for him a short time later after a pursiut but they ragged the hell out of it..

to be fair Dan there is 1000 ways to steal any car and it happens and any scooby owner should be aware that their vehicle is vunerable due to its reputation for speed etc, but we all are very vigilant well at least i am but you can never say that one particular method is the way its happening. Eyes Ears and Common sense is about has good as it gets and fingers crossed it never happens

What's that got to do with a bit of paper on the back window

ok. So has there been several incidents of thieves putting paper on a back window then stealing the car when the driver gets out? I thought that's what you said in your earlier post.

you were not questioning over the ways of stealing the cars you were asking me why i was posting an 'irrelevant' reply to this thread.

Also find it hard to beleive that the criminals out there dont have enough brain cells to work out that threatening someone with a knife to get there car. Im sure they would have been able to work that one out without my help

cheers,

Dont worry about the "post count" comments, i have been on here for a few years, I had never heard of that and these things are good to know.
Reality or myth and might save a load of hasstle if someone tries it.

There is an ignore list available if you go into peoples profiles you can add them there..
You will soon know who to add, as the same people talk bollocks most of the time, just check out thier high post count, there is a reason for it!
