[quote=mart360]strange isnt it...

nhs is free, but private is seen as a benifit and taxed....

i worked out yesterday, i loose a third of my hard earned every month to that lot of money grabbing b*stards...

You lose more than that I'm afraid. You pay VAT on almost everything, tax on your pint, fuel, tax on insurance, tax on your savings, stamp duty, and when you die Gordon still wants 40% of your home if its worth over ?£260k

well the option is there at my work to take it or not - if I didnt my salary would still be the same. Its impossible to put a price on what effect having this benefit has on my salary but its a company-wide benefit available to all.

When they brought it in peoples salaries didnt drop and they continue to rise annually so im not feeling hard done by!! research shows my wages are at least in line or exceeding compared with other similar positions in the market.

And id much rather have the benefit than not

Definitely worth it...the test that I needed had a 4-6 month waiting list on the NHS. My private cover from work covered it and I was in and done in 4 days. On Friday, West Herts PCT said that they were advising doctors not to refer non critical stuff (which I would have counted as) so I know I would have got to 4 months waiting, 5...6...never!!

Due to previous ailments the cover I could get would not cover several limbs, bodyparts and organs. I felt reassured that for £80 per month my head, left shoulder, stomach, kidneys, knees, right arm and right ankle were not covered. Other than the wait never had a problem with NHS.
