All this bitching and slagging off spelling,names,mods etc is what i would have expected from some other lesser forums.
For the record i have a JDM WRX,purely because of what was around and in my budget at the time.
Merry Xmas!!!!!

I have had both a JDM STI 4 (MY98) and a UK Turbo (MY99).
To be honest, in terms of ownership, I couldn't tell you which one I prefered.
Both cars have they plus and minus points.
The STI:
Plus points;
Great top end pull
Superb gearbox
Aggressive looks
The feeling of owning an STI!
Minus points;
Insurance
Noticable lag
MPG (but no worse than expected)
Ride
Everything being in Japanese!
MY99 UK Turbo:
Plus points;
Insurance
ALL UK dealers will help you!
MPG (25 compared to 19 with the sti)
Excellent ride, even when lowered in eibachs
Great low down response
Minus Points;
Always thinking that you havn't got an STI anymore!
Fairly tall ratios
Runs out of puff at 6000rpm, sti would keep going to the redline if you wanted
I'm sure there are a few more points, but those are the main ones that come to mind.
The only failure that I had in 15,000 miles on the sti, was the commom 'split end tank' on the radiator.
Nothing so far on the UK turbo.
The UK Turbo that I have now IS a great car, despite what people say. Yes, the sti would be quicker around a track, but they're not track cars, and it would very much depend on the driver.
In the real would, with average driver's, the sti would not pull away from the uk turbo. End of story.
Hope this helps

Was it a straight line ,twisties could it be you're a better driver?
I will say esxboys statement is a little sweeping.
I wonder if craggers (the original poster) is actually still looking at this thread

Funny that this thread is still going, with some strongly held views being aired too!
I absolutely love my UK Classic, now I've got it I wouldn't swap it for a JDM, I get to attached to cars. If I had a JDM I would probably love that the same too.
I'm happy, thats all that counts for me.
Although it is a little sad to see how some people really look down on UK cars.

If its a classic then you've obviously modded it to 280, though whatever mod's you'd have used would have taken a JDM past 300BHP+ so really your not making much of a point.

I can take on - and beat - any JDM rubbish ...... it's a matter of skill - simply I am the better driver! 65 years of experience wipes the floor with the kiddies on here who couldn't drive to save their sorry hides!!
And no 1994 Import Shed could keep up with my UK 215BHP flyer in my hands!!

Oh dear, is this going to be one of them my car is faster than your car threads for the next umpteen pages???..
Newbie here
i have a WRX JDM classic 96, and to be honest it does really depend on the gearing and the sole driver of the car ..for instance one of my friends has a My99 uk model, and on motorways he does have the advantage over me hands down.but on the twistes its a different story,,due to my car having lower gearing than his..
not much of a resolve ,i know but i thought i would give a little food for thought,,
JDM or UK its still a scoob aint it???
Oh!! and by the way, hello everyone
