I really don't see the issue with a proven service history from Japan.
Take a 60,000 mile classic and assume it spent its first 30,000 miles in Japan but there is no service history from there. The fact that the last 30,000 miles have been trouble free and the car has a full history for those 30,000 miles counts for a lot IMHO. Furthermore, it's my perception that the majority of people that buy performance cars service them regularly and that the majority of that group of people service them correctly, at a reputable dealer and on time. Given the culture in Japan, its even less likely that those first 30,000 miles were on PDI oil and filters, etc.
I seriously doubt there are many people that buy a brand new £25k car and then don't bother to service it - you'd have to be pretty unlucky to buy such an example. What I'll be looking for is a good history that goes back 20,000 miles and/or many years. What happened further back than that is largely irrelevant IMHO. Do you really think you car is going to fail when its on 70,000 miles because it missed its second service!!!

He didn't buy the car because of the fsh because he cannot read japanese.
I'll see if i can get the service manual off him to check for moped related servicing.
A car with fsh can break just as easily as a car without fsh.

Just for the record I have a 13 going on 14 year old JDM WRX. It has been considerably modified and has its original, non-rebuilt engine and gearbox. It has only required the occasional wear and tear item in the 3+ years I have had it.
There are good ones out there!
Looking back, I would not have changed my mind and bought a UK one.

The stickers and the Tommi K bumpers don't do it any favours IMO.
However, I've got a few stickers on mine and I've got P1 rear spoiler and (will have) P1 front splitter plus some huge white wheels, so to some, mine is equally as chavved as his.
UK cars are much better IMO

[QUOTE=Sweepickit]
As far as JDM cars go, the fact that they are limited to 112mph (180km/h?) means that the engine problems associated with very high speeds and air-flow into the intercooler are less. You get A/C, rear wash wipe, folding mirrors and more BHP. How is that inferior to a UK car?

also lets not forget newage JDM specs have a uprated and stronger bottom end, 8,000 redline,twin-scroll turbo and equal length headers as well.

Might be wrong but didn't JDM wagons get TD04 turbos? I know early saloons got TD05s.
You are welcome to your opinion my friend. Given the choice, I know which I would prefer.

It's got nothing to do with keeping the better cars for themselves. It comes down to EU type approval and the fact that getting a change approved can take so long, whereas in Japan they go about things in a different, more efficient and faster way. That is why the JDM models have advanced (with better cranks, twin scroll turbo's etc etc) and the UK cars have just stood still and been eclipsed by their oriental cousins

Jesus guys.....i thought this was a forum for subaru enthusiasts all with a common interest!!.Who cares if its JDM or UK to me its horses for courses, each type has its advantages and disadvantages. It really doesnt seem to matter anyway as everyones car on here seems to be a little different to its original spec.
All this bitching and slagging off spelling, names, mods etc is what i would have expected from some other lesser forums.
For the record i have a JDM WRX,purely because of what was around and in my budget at the time.
Merry Xmas!!!!!
