It is the thread from which all subsequent "How much for a bottom end rebuild" ; "Horrible knocking sound"; "Engine gone pop" threads originate.

nope, of course not. I also mowed down a litter of new born black puppy labs who had fallen out of a van that I rear ended whilst braking down to about 120mph

No I don't actually
Do you want me to go out and achieve some three figure speeds so I boast to my friends down the pub and a public forum?
As for everyone who's achieved these speeds on a 'private road' - come on please. Your just afraid of being flamed to death on here.

GPS recorded 173mph in my UK classic with 6 speed box.
Mobile came in handy for the speedo reading.

Oh, and probably ~140 on the speedo in the scoob, still seemed to have plenty left but common sense and available suitable space prevailed beyond that. Have been at over 150 indicated in a previous shape Vectra 2.5, which was strangely capable at high speeds. N.B. not in UK.
First car I ever had, I once got 12mph over it's official top speed whilst still in 3rd gear!
Old french superminis, the engines just wouldn't break!

Std Speedo's aren't accurate!!!!!!!!! anything over 30mph can be 5mph out, so 100mph + is just gunna be more out (gps boys accepted). So its all kinda bollox

Not gonna say the exact speed, but it was 10mph shy of 200mph indicated on the speedo, not sure the actual GPS speed.
This is in my 996 Turbo.
It wasn't the outright speed as such but the ease & speed at which it got there that actually frightened me more.
