Ah that's who it is

My post was on the basis of my rather old fashioned view that a wife is for life and not just Xmas and I wouldn't grass her up even in the circumstances described. If I had a less formal relationship, say with a partner then I don't think I would want to be with someone who was so irresponsible. But I guess if it was a long term thingy than I would probably keep stumm and give them hell when they returned.

Reading Shark Man's post I grew up in the days (pre-breathalyser) when drink driving was so much more accepted than it is now. It was almost unthinkable to nominate a driver for the Friday pub crawl. I simply don't dd any more but I see plenty that do.

Mind you I reckon old Farmer Giles driving back down the country lane at midnight after 4 pints is still probably safer than a 17 year old showing off with his mates in a souped up Nova. Just my half pint's worth.

Even at my 'most pissed' I wouldn't even consider driving! why do some people think it's OK?

And I'd make it clear from day 1, drive or attempt to drive while pissed and I'm calling Mr Plod.....

I suggest she takes his car keys away for 2 weeks and makes him take a taxi everywhere - either that or she goes to the police/his boss and tells them to monitor him. Let him know it's his last chance. His choice. I certainly wouldn't stay married to someone who killed an innocent by getting pissed and driving off. She's welcome to half his money, the house and the car if she divorces him, so I'm guessing he has quite a lot to lose with that threat.

No I wouldn't, not prepared to ruin a relationship like that. But I would somehow find a way to prevent the person concerned from driving.
