Yep that's it - it's the cylindrical bit under all the wires and connectors should have Denso on the label.
From memory there's two narrow bore pipes that come off it and feed back to the engine. I removed the bracket to help me remove the pipes. To clean you need some sort of solvent - most folk use aerosol brake cleaner as it evaporates quickly. Remember to check engine oil level - I never fill mine over the hlfway point on the dipstick between the full and empty marks.

Power Engineering - Performance Tuning for Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Evo, Ford RS Turbo and Cosworth in the UK They're in Uxbridge.

But to be honest m8, i'd take it back to where you had the clutch done and demand that they fix it, or report them to trading standards.

Listen mate, there's nowt wrong with your car. They've overfilled the engine oil and the vapours are getting into the boost solenoid and causing over boost fuel cut. This is a 30 min job to sort by someone with half a brain. I'd avoid this garage if they overfilled the sump in the first place and now won't do anything about it.
You're london based you must be near one of the decent Subaru garages - they'd charge you £50 for this as long as you tell them what needs doing - drop half a litre of oil from the sump and clean out the boost solenoid and two pipes.

I've now spent longer typing replies to you than it would take to sort this.

Agreed, it's not difficult. Just do a search for how to clean the boost solenoid, print it out and buy yourself some brake cleaner from halfords. Then jack the car up, shimy underneith and drain some of the oil (you may get a bit messy, so wear some gloves!) Check the level with the dipstick and aim to get the level half way between low and high. Then clean the solenoid as the per the instructions. If you don't want to do any of this, take it to Power Engineering and take this post with you.

Not a problem, I'm just frustrated because I know how simple to sort this is.

Three other things;

1) I had to clean the solenoid and pipes a couple of times before the problem was resolved.

2) Might be worth you learning how to change the oil/filter, it's not difficult and one of the more important jobs to get right.

3) I've had my STi v3 for 8 years now and it's never gone wrong, these cars are very reliable, don't be swayed by the odd horror story on here.

I guess PE is closer. Best give one/either of the above a ring and ask them to have a look.
