I agree with Deep. I'd add that if the car is costing you too much money, you won't be able to enjoy it.

GT2. Have had the same thoughts. GT2 is the insanely sensible option

GT Classics car sales

Genuine 964 RS in special order very rare Sun Yellow with RECARO seats in black leather, full service history. Full Matter cage, brake ducts, original magnesium wheels painted in black. Modifications include 9Meister Motec + 1 engine conversion with 330bhp, adjustable suspension top mounts, carbon interior door panels, carbon bonnet. Very good car known to me since 1998.

I've been hit hard the last 18 months, I'm too scared to add up the amount of money I've lost in depreciation. Suffice to say I'm sure it would be enough to buy a new 997 GT3.

Still it's been a fun journey

My advice is only get it if your sure your going to keep it a while

That's the spirit. I know that none of us likes to give away money, but we have an expensive hobby! When you start paying close to 6 figures for any car, I think the 'value for money' and depreciation arguements tend to wear a little thin (a brand new 15 grand Mondeo is 'value for money', not a 90 grand sports car!).

It's a labour of love - best of luck to you. One day I hope to be able to do the same. Thanks for the offer Cem

I'm not sure how often that GT Classics place updates their website but the midnight blue 993 GT2 was sold months ago!!! Unless the new owner has sold again Was an unbelievable car and had quite a story so I understand.

Also, the Audi RS blue GT2 was sold months ago as well
I gotta say, it looked much better on the gold BBSs than the originals

Shame they were both LHD though

LHD is the only way to have a hardcore Porsche.

RHD is an afterthought and will be compromised

Oh my...Porsche 997 GT3 drifting » RacingVideoZ.com

Despite the german voiceover, I actually got a semi watching this clip.

About 2/3rd through, note how perfectly it seems to ride a fast bumpy straight (the shot coming towards the camera). A 996 GT3 would have bounced off the road

Cem,

One other thing, which dealer did you buy from?

Ed - East London is the dealer.
And no, didn't go for a factory collection as I didn't expect January in Europe to be favourable

That's the nearest to me too. Planning on heading up for a sniff around tomorrow if the party tonight doesn't get too out of hand!

Did they have one in the showroom?

Brand new GT3's are going above list. See below.

MT Performance : Porsche 911 997 GT3

Or a little bit more cash could get you a Black GT3 RS. Orange lettering. Very Horny

Camtune : Porsche 911 - 997 GT3 RS

Can never understand people who are that impatient. Buying a car like this from new I would want to spec every last item to my wants/needs.

Does it not all depend on keeping the car for some time?

If you are ££££££ worried at this level then by the 964 RS and take it to Bob Watson Engineering to get it straight.
The 964 is so pure for a 'non 911' of the old Sckool.

Have seen the 997 in the flesh and it is just such a looker it must be good!
The green example in EVO #99 page 55.....so nice.

Anyway, still have this one after 18 years

Saw a lovely white GT3 at the LA Autoshow - with ceramics and a few other bits and pieces.... $120,000 - a smidge over £60k . The Turbo next to it didn't get a look in.
- not sure if GST was included, thinking about it...

The 997 will not be immune from depreciation. How soon it depreciates depends on how long the demand isn't met by supply. Remember cars on sale for over book doesn't mean that dealers or even buyers are prepared to pay over book (after all, they're still for sale).

I agree with DeepSingh, I expect about 10-20K in the first year for early models, getting more severe as time goes on.

A waiting list doesn't mean that prices will be fetching over book. There's a waiting list for the F430, but you try getting a dealer to pay list for yours.

Great cars mind you.
