If you want additional cooling, get one that uses the usb ports for power not the main supply which could cause damage to the console.

Isn't there a new cooler coming out that has a number of extra connections? Think I saw it on gameplay.com but I can't view that site from work.

Cheers Dunk, but is there one on the market which does the job you speak of? Got a link?

There is a thing on Gameplay which is called a "Cooler King"?

Just type "usb fan" into google or the search engine on Amazon.co.uk. There's hundreds of the things about...

p.s. the Cooler King is the new cooler with multiple connections etc, however it draws power from the main supply, so not really a good idea...

Not good news for PS3 users who were looking forward to having a GT game....

No online Gran Turismo planned until 2008 with GT5

Kazunori Yamaouchi, CEO and producer at Gran Turismo dev Polyphony, has revealed that developer has chosen to focus attention on Gran Turismo 5, with Gran Turismo HD no longer to be released as a full game. GT HD instead is to made available for download as GT-HD Concept demo.

GT-HD Concept features 10 cars, 1 course with 2 layouts, Time Attack and Drift Trial modes. It also delivers a full HD visual experience reinforced with the new engine being developed for GT5. It has no online support other than a network ranking. The online experience will come with GT5 in 2008.

Currently, GT-HD Concept is set for release via PlayStation Store on December 24 in Japan.

Yamaouchi explained that the decision to pull the plug on the Gran Turismo HD full game occurred in the wake of the Tokyo Game Show. He also said that it's possible additional Concept demos will be released further down the line.

Its funny how many people, when they clock you have a 360 (especially a few months back) say that they are waiting for the PS3, loosely translates that they have the hump that you have a 360 and they havent.

Not in my case. I want to spend my money on something that I will not fear turning on every time for it burning up and crashing

what's with all this cooler for 360 Cr@p

I've never felt the need to plug a cooler into my 360 since it's only ever hung 3-4 time in it's life. Anyone that knows me through xbox live can see I play a lot of games (GS 14000 ish) so it's not through lack of trying to overheat it.

For me the poor PS3 will sell by the boat load and it doesnt matter which console is best because the majority of people just follow the crowd. Looking at the game line-up / the online service / and the cost of both machine and games I just can't see why people are hanging on for the PS3.

I think you're right, but you know what I mean

Good to hear you haven't hammered your latest one yet

If the cost reduced one next year appears to be more stable, I'd be sorely tempted to get one, but until then, I'll live off the second hand info from you (ab)users of it

LOL, didn't know any next-gen games had been written yet (for any console).

Thought they were all just eye candied to the hilt with no new innovative gameplay.

Now the Wii interactivity I would class more next gen than anything I've seen for the PS3 or 360.

I wouldn't call that innovative either. It's just the same old games just using a motion sensing controller instead of gamepad. Not sure there's anything too innovative in that...

Ah you mean that shallow Unreal Tournament clone. No innovation in gameplay at all. Nice graphics alone do not make a good (next-gen) game imo...

Sorry, missed off the IMHO

Nope, not played gears of war much, but it looks like an eye candied FPS. Nothing new there then. Only played it as much as my mate would let me. I watched him play it more than doing it myself.

I'm looking for some innovation for "next-gen" or does next-gen mean fancier graphics?

Look at the amount you guys played Geometry Wars for. Good old fashioned classic gameplay. Now come up with something innovative with that level of addiction and that would be next-gen IMHO ()

Maybe gaming for 24 years or so has given me too much exposure. Probably great for newcomers, but I'm just finding it all a bit old hat

I think you hit the nail on the head. Other than the Wii's gimick of a remote next-gen is only going to mean eye candy. Like you I've been gaming for close to twenty years. I don't think the huge jump to next gen is coming, the games are changing with each release but the day's of a dramatic change are behind us IMHO

Gears has some amazing eye candy, it takes a bit odf getting used to (The A button does everything) as for gameplay I haven't seen another game quite like it so it's another step in the right direction

if we are calling Gears a UT clone then we can put every other Deathmatch style online FPS in that basket.

Very true. I've not seen any innovation in that area for a long time, (and I don't call Gears run, duck, shoot, run, duck shoot gameplay terribly innovative either). IMHO of course

next gen is all about game physics and how you interact with the game world you're in

I assumed next gen would be all about offering a better / more interesting gaming experience, not just a physics / graphics update.

I personally don't care if things behave realistically as long as the game is fun / interesting to play...

Next Gen is only about the hardware and what it will allow you to do. For me if things can behave more realistically or even behave with a greater degee of realism ie instead of one hit level 1 damage, 2 hits = level 2 damage. It takes into account what has hit it and how to determine the damage done and how that effects the object be it a car, person whatever.

And that is the single largest thing wrong with the games industry today. Everyone is continually concentrating on the hardware / visuals at the expense of a decent story and / or enjoyment.

The three games I've enjoyed most on the 360 so far are Oblivion (decent story), Lego starwars II (fun), and Geometry wars. None of them push the machine particularly, but I enjoyed them all much more than the technology showcase games like gow.

If this is all next-gen gaming is going to be then they can keep it...

I've been through many problems with my 360. Everything has been replaced in one time or another and asking on the AV forums, i've came to the conclusion, it's heating up to much.
It's in a bit of a confined area, but i'd still like the added security of it being more than cool enough. Does me 'ed in.

I've not really enjoyed anything on the 360 yet. All the games I've played are shinier versions of old gen games. I'm hoping something truly different will come out.

Nothing on 360 has come close to the fun I've had on Guitar Hero on PS2.

The Cooler King looks like the best. It draws from the USB ports rather than piggybacking the power plug which is fine.
