VW Toureg vs Cayenne

Going by the manufacturers blurb, the V10 does more mpg than the petrols. If the V10 returned 11mpg, god knows what the V8 petrol would return.
Regarding the Cayenne: had 3 years driving experience of one now. My advice is not to bother. Won't bore you with the details. Still, could be worse, I could own it.
If that sort of thing floats your boat though, its probably a good time to buy one. Depreciation has been awful. A good 3 year old with not many miles could be snapped up for a decent figure.
Can't comment about the Toerag- never driven one.
Off to Preston in it tonight, for the one and only reason that it's got sat nav and my motor hasn't. Otherwise i wouldn't bother.

I'm in the market for one too. Had a Cayenne V8 and have driven a Cayenne V6. My first advice is to stay away from the V6 as it's simply far too sluggish and makes for extremely dull driving. The V8 is an altogether better prospect and does exactly what it's supposed to do, very well.
However, it was far too thirsty and it doesn't matter how rich you are, that much fuel is immoral.
A Tourag V10 is also pretty thirsty and it's an excellent marketing ploy by VW in which they've successfully convinced V10 buyers that they're buying an economical car!
I'm due to look at a few V6TDI Tourags - the 3.0 is the better of the small diesels as the 2.5 is supposed to be a bit of a snail. The 3.0 can also return upto 30mpg.

If I was forced to get a SUV it would be the new ML. **** vehicles anyway you look at it though.
So you want a decent 4x4 with off road credentials and plenty of diesel power. Seems to me like you need the new Range Rover TDV8. Will put the rest in the shade, on and off road. Or if you wait till next February, then the same engine will be an option in the RR Sport HSE.
And yes I am speaking from experience.

Clearly someone is doing well
. STI-04!! I bet you didn't go to an innner city comprehensive
I have just started reading this thread and was going to question why you would want to spend that amount of money on something so extreme just because you fancied a change. However, given that someone is hosing you down with cash it all starts to make sense. My prediction is that you discover you don't need a 4x4 and spend all your time driving the M3. The Q7 will be gone within a year. Looking forward to your future posts on the subject.

. I work hard & play hard
.As for the Q7 well .............. i got a phone call today from the porsche garage offering me a Turbo S for a very head turning price so going for a test drive tomorrow. If i cancel the Audi i will loose the £500 deposit but its all to do with heart over head rather than head over heart.
I am loving the M3 at the moment but i feel it can offer more.
Again thanks for your comments.

Ps i defo need a 4x4 unless i spend crazy money upgrading the private road upto my house. Though hopefully that will be when the snow is here & nothing else
