I think they should be embarrassed, coming to the nuclear party sixty years after it started when everyone else has had enough, its like the determined ut retarded kid at school doing 'o' levels until he is thirty.

The minute they so much as fart the US will splatter them, which is a bit unfair considering all the late nights they must have done to finish it, bet it had egg boxes on it and it was sprayed gold with BOM written in big red letters, bet they are going to build an Ekranolplan next.

Can someone tell them that the cold war is over ?

It probably wasn't even a nuke, just a shedload of conventional explosives, it's all a bluff IMO.

This is quite plausible. The seismic data suggests a blast as small as 0.5 kilotons (Fat Boy was 12-15 kilotons), which is not beyond conventional blasts, though probably difficult.

The theory is by scientists that it was probably a failed plutonium reaction. The explosive trigger probably set off a nuclear reaction, but that it quickly fizzled out rather than going into a full chain reaction. It's all to do with exact geometry of the core, and compressing it evenly.

Thats a valid point Geezer, but we still have them primed to use if necessary and are planning an expensive rebuild of our submarine missile systems.

NL maintain it largely for the generation of political influence in the world even if they don't give a stuff for the real welfare of this country.

arn't we being rather hypocritical saying we can have them but others can't?

after all theres only 1 country in the world who has ever dropped them in anger, yet they arn't sanctioned or anything like that.

p.s. i thik they shouldn't be allowed them by the way

The technology was supplied by Pakistan: who, in turn, stole it from the West... Seeing aa North Korea doesnt have many friends to play out with you can expect it to be finding its way to Iran (and therefore Syria) quite soon, in exchange for oil.

Is it time to kill them all yet? Did anyone see the documentary about killing 100,000 goats on the Galapagos Islands in order that the endangered endemic species might survive? This is a slightly right-wing notion; but the time will soon come when we have to act in the same way or none of us will survive.....

Very difficult to do much about N Korea militarily Simon (they're brainwashed into thinking that America is about to invade at any moment, so if it actually happened they'd fight tooth'n'nail !).

However, did you see the documentary on Beeb 2 last night entitled ""Will Israel bomb Iran ?" ~ The answer was "Yes, more than likely".

This was confirmed by former PM Ehud Barak and a number of other senior Israeli politicians ! (They reckoned Iran might have a Nuclear weapons capability within 3 years). They also referred to the fact that in Nov 05 the Iranian PM said that "Israel should be eliminated" !!

The upshot of the programme was that if the US doesn't stop Iran's Nuclear programme, then Israel will !

Iraq is the 52nd US state, I can't see Israel bombing there

It's not like you have to be particularly accurate with them though, eh Pete! In the general vacinity will do!

I hear that there is some doubt as to whether this was a nuke at all, some experts are saying the available evidence indicates the explosion may have been more like 500 tonnes of TNT. Not a small blast by any means, but could be non-nuclear (?)

Is it just me or can anyone else not see the 'Dear leader' -as he is referred to by his people- not wanting to detonate one for all to see, or at least provide more evidence that is was a nuke?
