S!
Think they run cooler than Halogens, so I can't see that being an issue.

Search for some STi Bugeye lights, the projector lamps are much better than the WRX lamps.

Genuine -

The kit is good, just the poxy cheap Jap **** plastic used on my car.

£205 each + Vat, and you gotta take the bumper off to fit them!

Never, ever buy a ****ing Jap car again...

Why PM and not public for everyone's benefit?

Tried the car tonight, GC8 classic. I think the R/H beam is a little low but only requires adjustment (no time to fiddle). The difference is quite striking. The car now has some real lights

A slight delay when first switching on Headlights, like milliseconds. Dip to high beam is instantaneous, noticeably quicker than tungstens. Like the difference between the new led rear lights on BMs etc compared to conventional filament bulbs.

The last time I thought about these lamps, maybe last winter, they were £300+

Time will tell how good a deal they really are

The near side should be a little higher than the off side, it prevents the lamps from dazzling drivers coming towards you.

I appreciate the possible dazzle hazard but still think it could be a little higher.

The lamp holder has adjuster screws but they look incredibly fiiddley.

Most difficult bit is deciding where to mount the ballasts. Remove headlights, swap bulbs for lamp holders, fit lamps, re-fit headlights, connect wiring connectors, tidy wiring with supplied cable ties, connect to battery, test.

1 hour? more or less, depending on whether or not you read the instructions first

Having done it once, 1 hour is plenty of time.

How many Ballasts do you have with high and low HIDs is it 2 or 4?

What is the size of the ballasts, the size of a matchbox or larger?

On the wiring side does it not just plug into the existing loom or does it need extra power to run from battery.

Thanks
Scott

Basically you can fit the kit in two ways,

1 - Fit the relay loom, this loom will then provide power and fuses that would prevent your original loom from frying should a ballast or lamp go short.
It takes longer this way, but it's worth it for peace of mind.

2 - Chuck the relay loom, plug the orignal lamp connector into the ballast, then the ballast to the new lamp. If something goes short you may have your loom melt if the original headlight fuses don't blow first.

High/Lo HID if it's a single lamp work from a single ballast, if, like my car you have two separate lamps for hi/lo you will need two ballasts. They are a bit bigger than a packet of 20.
You should be able to tuck one near the air intake and the other near the battery, although I'm talking Legacy/02 Impreza, not classics.

Pics won't really show the full effect, but the performance is very good, they are much better/brighter/sharper than my previous Philips Vision Plus halogens, you won't be unhappy.

Hi guys,
Apparently another question was sent to the Genuine Auto guy about how to order (he's not complaining about it, he's just curious if I set this up right) - so just as a reminder, here is the info Alex posted on page 1:

Payments can be made through Paypal – genuine.auto@gmail.com
(So go to Welcome - PayPal and select the "Send Money" tab and using the ID genuine.auto@gmail.com you can send the funds)

Here is the info we need when you check out:
1. Bulb size
2. colour temp
3. daytime phone #
4. reference group buy 177.

Thanks!!

the only pics which could be of use is a pic of the beam pattern on a flat wall with the car about 3m back. this would show the beam pattern is correct and would pass an mot. i did buy a cheap set a couple of years ago and the beam pattern is all over the place. (i can see were i am going but god help you if your coming the other way!)

Genuine,
Do you have available H1 and H4 (6000K) single beam kits?
If I buy 2 sets will I get a discount on shipping? Is shipping the same price to Malta?
Do I have to modify my headlight holder to install the bulbs?
How much is a replacement bulb? And life expectancy?

My clasic headlights are not crystal clear, they have the pattern on the front, would this effect the HId in anyway?

hey guys
just fitted my kit tonight, took about an hour and a half with the help of my two mates(thanks guys) as im just no good with wiring
the major problem we had was figuring out where to put the ballasts but otherwise it was not too bad at all. im very impressed with the lights, even took it down a country road and tested them out. amazing lighting and the car jus luks awesome at night. here is a pic i took tonight, a bit grainy as its from my mobile.
i ordered H4 hi/lo 8000k kit.

Beam pattern against the garage door looks to be what you'd expect to be OK on dip, it's not scattered all over the place. Flat tops, off side lower than near side and biased to the near side.

Just to give some extra info:
Nobody can control what the customs guys stop , BUT when the shipment is sent, the invoice shows a value of $20 to help avoid/lower any additional charges.
Most people get by with nothing...
Hope that helps!

I might use my current 4300k for winter and put something a bit softer in for summer, maybe the 8000k or 10000k lamps.

Well, the 4300k is the brightest , but my choice is the 6000k - still bright, with just a hint of the blue.
