Badger, You do like being devils advocate.

As I said it'll be up to the judge. Only one guy worked on it at the second dealership and I know him as a member of the local Scoobs club. Why would anybody want to swap the pump, if they want it that bad why not just steal the whole car.

I think you would struggle in court to be honest. taking a pump out and replacing it is a 20 min job if that. There is obviously no reason to do this 3 years on, but the dealer would probably mention this and therefore there would not be conclusive proof that it wasnt fitted at the time.
I reckon because the car was new/relatively new, in my opinion the original pump would be more than upto the job of supplying enough fuel that the ppp requires, I mean they will have a built in safety margin, so therefore they keep the pump and sell it on ebay or elsewhere cheap for a bit of pocket money. Could just be a dodgy mechanic at the dealers doing this.

Jaytc,

Hear what you say. I also have hard evidence that they failed to reset the throttle angle when they swapped the ECU and on another occasion charged me for alignment after fitting Prodrive springs and didn't bother to set the camber at all. I expect this to count against them. I intend to have my pound of flesh, they deserve it. Worst I can lose is about £50 court fees.

Will take time and I'll post any progress.

D1CCY I hope you do get some sort of compensation as nobody should be conned which is what you have been, however what Im saying is it is going to be very hard imo to do so and you could end up being further out of pocket. Hopefully you will get a lot of pm's asking which dealer it is, and maybe others will have suffered problems with the same dealership and this could be used to build up a portfolio on the dealer in question which would certainly aid any compensation case.

DICCY. I'm sure you know your cars history better than any of us and if you susspect you've been ripped off, do what you feel is right. £50 is a small price to pay even if you loose (but I don't think it would go to court) for the valuable lessons you will have learned for something similar but more costly / important in the future (I hope this dose not happen) CAB are well worth talking to since they deal with a lot of this and can give you some factual advice. Good luck and well done for not letting some theif (that is what he is)get away with your money.

Just seen this post:

https://www.scoobynet.com/prodrive-f...=ppp+fuel+pump

Your experience could explain why there are lots on ebay, doodgy dealers/mechanics could be selling them on ebay rather than fitting them as part of PPP

Andy,

That's very worrying for everyone with PPP in the light of my discovery.

For info pump in my tank was marked UNISIA JECS, A42H24, 020, 0316N. UNISIA JECS is a japanese company making general auto parts, hence my suspicion. I've sent photos to Prodrive requesting confirmation that this is not a Prodrive pump. My case rather depends on this info.

As regards the challenge that someone else may have swapped the pump, g/f used to work for CPS and reckons it is up to the Judge and the onus would be for the dealer to come up with evidence to support such an accusation (for which there is none).

In the same vain. I had a diesel Fiesta a few years back and it was due a 30k service. On booking it in I was told they recommended a Brake Fluid change at £35 +VAT. Thinking Safety I said yes.

I then did the Tipex trick. Took the rubber covers off the bleed nipples and put a spot of Tipex on each.

Picked the car up and F**k my ole boots, still had Tipex on the nipples. So, I got on my high horse but was asked to return in the morning.

So, I did stood in the large queue the following got to the front and asked to see the Service Manager. Out he comes so in my loudest polite voice asked why I had paid for a brake fluid change and not got it done. He tries to explain that they have a machine that can suck the oil out and replace it without using the grease nipples. But how then did they make the old dirty oil stay there???? Having spent a few too many years working on big f**k off tanks I knew he was taking ****e!

I then asked him if I had run someone down and that the brakes where defective would he be able to say in court that the job had been done?

Funnily enough after I phoned Ford UK I never got the usual post service survey through the post and sold the car.

Try Tipex it works.

Go for it mate, in most cases they'll settle out of court as it'll cost them a damn sight more to defend paying a solicitors fee's.

I think you'll struggle on the alignment as it can run out over time, particularly with poor roads and speed bumps, however it does add weight to the pump issue.

What would be very interesting is too find other STI owners (no PPP fuel pump mod for WRX's) who have had PPP at this garage and get their pumps checked..! If you can find even one other owner with the same issue you will be virtually guaranteed to win the case..

IMHO Prodrive should be very worried about this level of service and the implications for their reputation..!

This could explain why some PPP cars struggle to get anywhere near their claimed outputs..!!

Keep the board updated on progress..

J

PS have you got SC to issue a report as this is a crucial piece of evidence..?

Out of interest what do you think of PPP compared to your standard car?
Amongst things, i'm hoping the Prodrive back box sounds better than the standard one.
Nik.
Ask to see or keep the old parts.
You should notice a pleasant difference in performance and the back box sounds great, easpecially when the exhaust system is up to temperature. Switch the stereo off and get the back windows down.

Jason,

The alignment issue was raised within a month of the dealer screwing it up just never got any satisfaction at the time. Going for it now as I might as well add it to my claim. I've asked SC to identify photos of the pump for me.

Will post when I get any progress, don't hold your breath. Cheers, Diccy.
