Interesting, i guess the pump flow would have to be quite a high volume unit given the length of the piping to and from the block down the full length of the bus.

After the reading that link i see that air locks are a problem, we have self bleeders on aircraft hydraulic systems, is there something like this available for this kind of application?

Just had a probably rubbish idea as i have no idea on how much space you have available, but could you not use 2 smaller rabs and mount them either side of the bus (a bit like the honda vtr thou m/bike does) maybe close to the engine thereby having shorter cooling pipe runs and reducing the chance of air locks?

rob - i dont think the pump flow capacity is an issue (not that i have any pipes yet) but its certainly not something Ive heard others talk about. Rememebr also the t25 has loooooong pipes with no probs - as so far as i know theres nothing special about their pumps.

Anyway....ive decided to start a proper thread I can keep updated here
http://www.vwkd.co.uk/bb/viewtopic.php?t=254
rather than having bits and bobs all over the internet as I did before!! so I can actually keep track of this one!

edit... ref airlocks....apparently there are a number of way which you can set up your system so it actively purges air from the system - some more effective than others...but theres a fair bit of info on www.aussieveedubbers.com on this. Im going with the std subaru system though to start with and see how it goes.
