Why's that Gary? I'm really enjoying mine. Use it loads more that than the PSP...

Just starting to do some coding for it now (I managed to get some SDL stuff going last night - only "hello world" type stuff, but it's a start )

First off the joystick is complete garbage. The battery life is poor. Im spending all my time just getting all the bloomin ROMs for games. PrBoom runs Doom but I have spent ages just getting other WADs to load when the prboom for all other platforms has wad and deh selectors. Ive got about 1200 mame roms on there but quite a large percentage fail. I have just taken the decision if I want to run all this stuff I might as well just use my laptop.

Fair enough. I have no trouble with it myself, but perhaps it just doesn't suit your hand shape. You can get a replacement stick if you don't like the default one.

I'm getting 4-5 hours from a set of 2600mah rechargables. That's as good as I get from the psp, so I don't think it's that bad.

Why is that a fault with the console? If you are going to download them anyway for use on the laptop, surely that's a non-issue?

Are you using the 0.34 romset? What do you mean by fail? Most of the games I've tried (i.e. the ones I'm interested in, not all the other rubbish) on it seem to work just fine, (although one or two do hang). Bear in mind that most of the software is in early beta stages, so you can't expect it ro be rock solid at the moment.

Not as easy to fit in your pocket though I took my gp2x to Silverstone the other week to keep me amused in the gaps between races. Couldn't see me doing that with a laptop

Er no not yet. My Birthday is 14th July so I'm using birthday money to pay for it! Still researching them to be honest. Anyone know any good 360 sites?

Definately worth getting one - and definately worth getting broadband in for it if you dont already.

Also get a play & charge kit with it though - MS dont tell you that you'll need an endless supply of AA's otherwise. (unless you already have a set of rechargables that is).

The new GRAW maps are good - ther 1200 point price is a bit steep and its a 725mb DL but the Shipping Port map is so ******* enormous its starting to push the 360's limitations.

 

You're not wrong... Especially when the PC users get it for free

If you aint got HDTV then probably yeah the games are the same as xbox, but the xbox is 5 years old and the publishers are pushing it to its limits, whereas the 360 they are just setting out. Crazy taxi/halo were cutting edge on xbox they are considered ****e now, you're buying for the future

 

Hmm not to sure about that, shove an advanced scart lead on the 360 and it will look much better than any Xbox game !!

I'm just on a normal TV as I'm waiting for the 1080p sets to be more available.

The 360 is certainly a step up over the Original XBox graphically.

 

I'm doing the same messiah. Got a normal 42" plasma, but have set the xbox to output HD. Looks a lot better than when getting the xbox to output via low def.

Having said that, even when the output is set to low-def, it still looks a lot better than the old xbox. For a start, the graphics hardware can push many more times the number of polygons around the screen than the old xbox. The screen resolution has no affect on that...

 

This depends what you are comparing, if you mean will an xbox game look better on a 360 then probably only slightly. If you mean will a 360 game look better than the xbox equivalent then yes it will look better due to the advanced hardware allowing the writers to push the boundaries.
