Would you get a RED light with your knees knocking together worrying about a carJack??

Pete
i have to disagrre with you.
for a start wagons are more prone to get jacked than a saloon due to the bigger boot space required for ram raids etc.
also a potential armed robber, burglar or other low life scummy criminal will not want blitz exhausts and dumpvalves blasting whilst casing jobs.
so mr lewis be careful.

[quote=nik52wrx]The code should be in your alarm manual. There's a four digit code that you type into the keypad and hey presto!
Think i will be setting mine up as well.
To be honest, i did not do it, but my dealer set it for me as i took my car in for the first 1000 mile service . .All i said, in Essex, you have no crime, but here in London, we do need it, so please set it!

I don't think it happens as much as we read. Cos we are on a specfic forum you will hear about it more.
If people were that worried we wouldn't have any subaru dealerships!! It would be just as easy to go and test drive a scooby from a main dealer and pull over were your mates are and throw the saleman out!! You don't hear of it though.
I am also fearful of this problem but I just try and take necessary precautions.
Just enjoy the car, there are alot more exotic cars than scoobs!!
(Fabia VRS for example! Sorry been really the Fabia vs the rest of the world!!)

Selling a car is one thing... not sure who will turn up and what the situation will be is another... I wanted to sell my car last year... I have still got it... because I am enjoying it... the recent stories and events want me to give it up now.
Thinking aloud: I think as a precaution, if you ask for a valid drivers license, an insurance document or a passport to keep in doors while you go for a test drive (not letting the viewer to drive of course) then if the customer is genuine they shouldn't mind... but then what extreme would you go to... I wouldn't hand my passport to anyone... but then what other proof of ID could you accept... Would we need to ask for ID from a customer...???
I have been bullied on 3 occasions of my driving life (7 years)... the first time was in my Toyota MR2 (Jap Import 300BHP)... I was going too Brighton via M23 from the M25... it was a white van with 3 older lads following me all the way from dual carriage to motorway... every lane I changed they followed and shouted offensive remarks until an opening came and I put foot down and didn't see them for dust...
The second time was when someone tried to overtake me while I was doing 30MPH in a 30MPH zone... funny this... because it was another van driver wanting to overtake me thinking I was going a bit slow... as he overtook me he tried to run me off the road... so I accelerated and he continued to flash and beep his horn at me... lucky for my tinted windows the flashing didn't bother me...
Third time some other lads... (why is it van drivers... statistically) chose to be annoying to generally anyone around them... unfortunately I had stopped by the side of them in traffic in the evening on a one way system and they started to throw coins at the car and the open window...
So in situations like the above... what do you do... get a 6'7'' inflatable co-driver and sit it in the passenger seat...!!!???
