because it takes me a day to prepare for work, a day to wind down and i need a day off- hence only one day left for counterstrike and i didnt get to be a rainmaker by playing kids games when i have some spare time

I don't work in IT but i do work v.long hours for an ok wage. Not having a house/wife/kids does however make things considerably easier

I like the way this thread is going

I think we should actually take a pole on how many people are in IT

Although theres a rather strong correlation between owning a Scoob and being an IT person

I obviously chose the wrong career as a poorly paid Chartered Accountant!

I chose the option of getting a smaller house and getting the Scoob instead of a big one. But then I bought another house as well as the house I had not long afterwards.........

What I want to know is how you get £20k at 3.9% - cant even get that on my mortgage!

Other than that I spend far too much on the Scoob - I thought I'd get an import for £25k and keep it standard - but within 6 months I was spending over £1k a month on it - and that has'nt stopped in the last 2 yrs!

A lot of credit cards with good introductory rates, just not sure how you'd pay it back in the six months

Ah yes - tried that before but not for that amount of money - and takes a lot of juggling of one card against another - i.e trying to get another low deal card to start just as the other one is ending - headache time

Paid for mine when I was a IT contractor.
Now I just have to run it (which is expensive enough, thank-you )

OK, i am a lazy *******, i fly rockets to the moon and get a free company scoob as thats the only thing that can get me to the launch pad sideways in control and on time.
Not you as well JF.

just like to point out that im in IT, and I'm loaded.

p.s. I've never met anyone in IT who works hard. Nurses work hard. Coal miners work hard. IT people do not by any stretch of the imagination.

johnfelstead: "At the time i was running a mental 350BHP RWD sapphire cossie (prob the reason andy has that sapphire is down to me showing him what one can do)"

LOL it certainly is the reason John! Leaving Castle Performance in your car with Mark shouting "ya going for a trip in a REAL Mans car!" was nearly what clinched it, then the rest of the drive did

I see most people are on about IT, remember there will be a load of scoob owners who cant access the board due to there job, but 99.9% of IT people all have their own PC, all have to access the net and have access to the net, and look less dodgy on the board than someone in accountancy etc, solves that one

ANDY330

What d'ya mean 'dodgy' the cheek...........

Although I would admit that most accountants I come across are very dodgy individuals so I understand the comment!

We dont get paid anywhere near as much as IT consultants. Although I have been accused on many occasions of earning a telephone number salary! - but its never enough.....

Steve

LOL i never said accountants look dodgy, i said "look less dodgy on the board than an accountant" meaning that in IT its accepted that you need to use the internet so if ya boss walked past he wouldnt blink an eyelid, but in accountancy, its accepted that you need to use Sage and spreadsheets etc, so if ya boss walked past and saw the internet, he may be interested in what you are doing cos you look dodgy!

anyway, Im AAT and part CIMA qualified so I know a dodgy accountant when i see being an ex myself!

28 yrs old and in I.T.(another one) with a 98 WRX. No mortgage, no kids etc - didn't stop me needing two loans for the car though! I just couldn't wait until I'd paid off the first one I got for the Prelude VTEC... Ahhh, the foolishness of (diminishing) youth.

I work in IT and I work hard - more to do with personal ethics and standards.

Bought my P1 yesterday - nailed the dealer for less and also asked him for a few extras.

Thumbs up

Hi ash1, I'm not stalking you, honest.

I've delayed long enough, but the time has come for me to join this thread. I don't work in IT but judging by the support I get from the IT boys at my firm, I am sure you are all slackers. I'm a corporate lawyer. When I need to work hard I doubt there is much harder (usual exceptions for coal miners/doctors etc), longest so far is 4 days and 3 nights without sleep. When I don't need to work hard I do jack ****. I make a fortune. I have a wife, 2 kids, mortgage in London, electric guitar collection and a 1980 corvette batmobile to support. I'm a big kid with more money than sense.

And I f*cking love it.

I would litter this post with smilies etc, but I am so inept I can't do it. I'd be grateful if someone would tell me how.

You've hit the nail there (kind of). I've been waiting 3 weeks for a development environment (from another IT department incidentally), can't do anything without it. When it finally gets built I will be working my nads off to try and catch up on the wasted 3 weeks. Right now I'm going to sit here and read Scoobynet. To be honest it suits me fine sir!
I have both ethics and standards, but I've done this job long enough now to play the game, and thats exactly what this most of this is, politics and management/departments bull5hitting each other. Thats half the problem why your IT departments take ages to help. I'm going, I've started to rant.
By the way post a pic of your batmobile!

It is the old chicken and egg question:

Many respondents seem to be able to afford their Scooby's by not being married and not having kids - Or, are they not married because they only have one passion in their lives and it has four wheels. Discuss.
