ROVER MG ZS type things......mini moan.....

Can anybody put up the standard figures for the ZS in terms of power and weight?
I used to keep with them in my old 205 1360cc(85bhp) so they surely they can't be as fast as some are making out can they?

standard v6 spec 177 bhp ,177 ft lb torque
0-60 7.2
top speed 139
weight 1200 kg's
power to weight 144 bhp/ton
as i said nothing very dramatic in the figures department! tiff said it was the best handling front driver full stop when he tested it,its funny when a zs is slowly ctching a sti up on track and then as its looming up large in the mirrors the sti pulls in the pits ,,,aaaaaaaaaaah some folks just cant take itpassed by an old rover ,actually the owner of that scoob i wupped at pod didnt look very happy .
Im not saying the zs is a giant killer but a good one surprises everyone who takes the time to have a look .

the zs is saloon and hatchback and both make same power.
I am registered on every mgr forum and i have never heard anyone saying or hinting that their car was a scooby imitator cause it looks vaguely similar in blue,if they wanted scoobs they would get one ,i had one before my zs and all this usual scoobs beat anything in the twisties is total poop.

Smugness in the fact that the ZS is much cheaper to run,is a far better point to point car with is superior chassis, not likely to be stolen
Now about the superior chassis thing that is a laugh as it was mostly 15 year old honda chassis, which honda themselves stopped using 5-6 years before the ZS was released. Its just because it had double wishbone suspension that it could be tuned towards the track with a certain amount of success.
The reason why they hardly ever get stolen is because theyre not objects of desire. Simple as.

Had a sense of humour failure or just don't like the truth? You seemed to find the hackneyed Rover cliches amusing, sometimes I guess stuff is just to near to the knuckle for some people. What a shame.

Car that packs as much punch- Nissan 200SX in lieu of a classic, Mitsubishi EVO in place of a blobeye. No need to state a replacement for the bugeye, it's a ***** loser car so only a sh1thead would buy one of those.

I've owned many cars, some good, some indifferent but never anything that was canned by the manufacturer after a short period of time for being an unmitigated disaster.
Too many to list here but I did enjoy my 'classic' Impreza despite it's many faults.

Maybe have a look in gallery at the bugeye thread, you might find a model you like in there, most people have come round to bug eyes maybe you too could give them a second chance

lol@ any new age offering refinement. The bugeye and blobeye are barely more refined and other than MY2005 blobeye all have truly awful interiors. MY2005 was a big step up in quality even if it still looks cheap.
I doubt there are any bugeye cars I'd like, it is IMO one of the worst looking cars ever made- on a par with a Ssanyong Rodius.
That said the MY2006- 'japs eye' model isn't much better, the chav style lexus lights and awful front styling makes one of the worst looking cars since.............................the blobeye. 2 own goals out of 3.

As for its looks it's not aesthetically pleasing, but it's not an eyesore. I think with STi lights it's actually quite a looker, with pleasing lines but thats just my opinion and beauty is in the eye of the beholder

That post shows just how little you actually know about cars. Not only are you factually incorrect, you're also talking bollocks.
The ZS has one of the finest FWD chassis ever produced. But then if you really are an 'AudiLover' you just wouldn't understand. Anyone ever explained the difference between handling and grip to you?

Rabid you are clearly a ****. Throwing insults at someone because you dont like their motor. I have a bugeye sti and in my eyes its the nuts. I dont know what you drive but Ive founded the opinion that you are a complete f*cking Pr*ck. Why is this forum just full of people who have to spout BS just because they hate scoobs. Dont like em go read something else and leave this site for people who do love their motors.

So your saying its in the top 5 best FWD cars ever?
The MG ZS (2001-2005) was a sporting family car derived from the Rover 45 (launched in 1999). The 45 was a facelifted version of the Rover 400 which was launched in hatchback form in 1995 and saloon form in 1996. The Rover 400 had much in common with the Honda Civic of 1995-1999. At the time of development, Honda and Rover worked in partnership to design and develop cars for the Japanese and European markets.
The Rover 45 donor car did not have a reputation for being a driver's car but the Honda-derived chassis with advanced double-wishbone suspension offered potential for tuning. As a Rover, the company always chose to optimise the car for comfort rather than handling — as an MG this choice was reversed.
