Excellent work there John

How do you find those tyres? Do they heat up quickly and get very sticky - ideal for sprints & hillclimbs?

Cheers

Terry:
At the mile long Loton Park, the Kumho and Dunlops were much the same warmth at the top between the EVO and my car.

I wouldn't say any list 1B tyre is ideal for Hills / Sprints, maybe with the possible exception of ACB10s in A24 compound, but these are not available in bigger than 15".
They are about as good as you'll get though whilst remaining road legal.

that's weird, was just thinking yesterday if it's possible to rotate my camber plates to make them into castor plates (read: tight git who's not going to fork out for noltecs ) how accurate does the repositioning need to be John? can you talk me through it?

Measured from the edge of the 'big hole' out to the hole centres of the three mounting holes, scribed it round the turret, calculated where an arc would cross 90deg rotated and drilled holes.

I think Bigbrakes wanted to know where the inlet manifold plate came from Kev.
I would think on the suspension that is the caster position was about within 1mm or 2mm of each other then not a lot of problems.
The camber can be found using camber bolts to a reasonable 'degree' ....sorry...so long as they can be adjusted the same.

Lots of interesting things on John's car!

Ah, you english, can't understand your accents

There is no adaptor plate, just the normal flange cut off the back and welded to the front.

Why didn't you turn that manifold round ???

Was wondering why it was welded.

Sorry, wasn't trying to be difficult, Engine sits sloping back in the engine bay, manifold is canted to suit, reverse and you have the throttle body pointing up through the bonnet, the only solution is to cut and shut.

Oh, Ok I thought the throttle body came out pretty flat on those manifolds.

Even the latest new age manifold that sits up at quite a degree I didn't have to chop it up after turnin it round.

More News/developments. Gave the car a right good leathering at the weekend and finally seem to have some mechanical reliability.

Mixed weekend this weekend. Knockhill Saturday for an SIDC Track Day (courtesy of JohnS, alledged to lurk in these parts).
Hillclimb at Forrestburn Sunday, round of the Scottish.

Sunny day at Knockhill (unusually ) Went with an agenda as I'm back there next weekend for a Sprint. Wanted to check two things, one, did I have a big enough tand to get round two full laps, two, could I make it round without having to use my standard helical/syncro 5th gear. Oh, and to get some sneaky practise in

The good news is the car can get round with 4 gears... just, and the tank is good for four laps (at a push). Really enjoyed myself, even had enough time to fiddle with dampers and tune the suspension a wee bit, the car was going far better once I'd fiddled.

Results of the day, the car is ballistic compared to before, really looking forward to a dry weekend next week, with a bit of luck.

Forrestburn, good day again weather held out till the meet ended. Was leading the way all through practise, being chased by a rapid Evo III and a very tidy STi RA. Disaster struck when the Nut holding the Wheel had brain fade on the startline and stalled the car (having crossed the line), to then stall it again. Needless to say even a wee hickup ***** the run nevermind 10secs sitting doing nothing. I drove up the hill anyway, I guess it was at least more practise.
So to cut a long story short I was last in class with only one run to salvage things. (both the evo and Scoob had gone faster than I had in practise).
Managed to pull it out of the bag for a win on the last run, but not something I intend repeating again.

Pics to follow....
