Forgot to mention that Mocom Racing had the gearbox out, stripped and rebuilt to correct 4th gear popping out under load - thanks v much lads!

TSL also came good and gve me a credit note for the failed Perrin front links. Big thanks to Pete@TSL.

I used the credit towards a Perrin lightweight flywheel which is currently sitting at Mocom waiting to be fitted when I'm back there next.

Also, when the gearbox was out and being rebuilt, Mocom sorted me out a huuuuge K&N filter, RCM induction trumpet and silicon hose. We also did some more map tweaking and now peaks at 1.7 bar....

 

Get it cranked up to 2bar

Banny - 2 bar is the intention in the future but I'm at the limits of the current boost adjuster (run out of levels on the ECU to adjust timings I think). Not really sure as my mapper said we can't go any further wihout something... can't remember now as was back in Oct.

Want to make sure the fuel system is up to it and an open neck downpipe should improve spool up a bit more too.

About time for an update..

Big thanks to my man Luke today for making his way down to mine, all his hard work and getting round the small problems as we went... space was tight in the garage but we managed to get it all done inside!

Anyway, the AP Racing six pots and Performance Friction discs were fitted up front, whilst Godspeed grooved rear discs went on the back. Ferodo DS2500 pads and goodridge lines were fitted all round. I haven't much of a chance to test them out but first impressions are very positive.






Also, as I've been pants taking pics so far I thought I'd get some up of the some of the other bits as well.

First, we have the Perrin roll bars, heavy duty mounts, DL's and Noltec rear suspension arms.... Lovely





Here is the front roll bar. You can also see the braided sump return from the catch tank, the Perrin ALK, Whiteline front DL's, Whiteline roll center adjusters and the wrapping on the headers.



KW V3's with remote reservoirs.... build quality is awesome and overall feel is just fantastic!

Can also see the Noltec front top mounts...





Defi link gauges and Phormula knock sensor...



More defi, but also the Innovate X-16 gauges for the AFR Wideband.



The new RCM cold air intake with K&N cone..



Also got some of these Ultralight wheel nuts from Revolution...



Finished off today with another change of the Motul 300v 15/50 oil and a new filter. Only been 4 months and 500 miles since the last one but nice to make sure it is all in top condition!!

Next few plans revolve around the downpipe and fuel setup...

Although, not sure how many updates I will manage as decided 2009 is the year I'm getting a house. Previous years I've opted out the basis that (around where I am anyway), prices were massively inflated.

Will hopefully still be able to treat the car to some extras. As per the last post, I would like some billet fuel rails and a beefier pump. Fit this up with some nice braided hose and fittings.

Then an RCM open neck downpipe and final map to 2 bar before the summer should see me finished (maybe... ).

Had a bit of a nightmare last week..

Started on Tuesday when I was in Kent. Driving down a road that had been dug up, going nice and slow to swerve between the raised metal-works. Mr Golf behind me deems going slow on a rubbish surface is not good enough and sits up so close behind he was basically in my boot. Didn’t bother me, even when he started flashing his lights. However, it took my attention from the road for a second and bam... I hit one of the raised metal-works.

Tore a hole in the sidewall of my front right.

Spare wheel doesn’t fit over the brakes on the front so tried the rear. Also didn’t fit as the Ultralight wheel nuts do not have enough thread to secure the wheel (metal on the space saver wheel much thinner than the alloys) so I was stuck in the middle of Kent, miles from home with a gashed tyre. To add to the misery, it pi$$ed with rain and I had to get the train home.

Big thanks go to SW Autos http://www.swautos.co.uk/ who took my car in and looked after her during the week, replacing all four tyres (wasn’t much tread left on the Toyos anyway) for Yokohama Parada Spec II’s and keeping her locked up. I picked her up on Saturday morning and got back home without further incident.

I then needed my alignment sorting. I assumed that if the impact was hard enough to tear a hole in the sidewall, it was enough to dislodge the alignment. Thanks go to Dixon, Raymond and Ryan and DMS Racing http://www.dmsracingltd.co.uk/ who open their doors on Saturday and Sunday, which is a great benefit for those of us that work Mon-Fri 8-6.

They do not specialise in Subaru’s (usually Mitsi, Hondas) but have a superb background for track preparation (one chap has worked on Le Mans cars, the other two in Time Attack and other race series) and am more than happy with the time and care they took setting up my geometry. I’m now running a pretty aggressive setup, will check the settings when I get home later if anybody is interested.

One thing that caught my eye was that DMS do all their own carbon fibre fabrication to aerospace specification. I’ve always been wary of carbon fibre bits as are often only carbon skin, but the quality of the weave and finish was superb.

Anyway, big thumbs up to the guys.

I have spent some money on some mods... but nothing has been fitted and more about that later .

When I went to DMS, a friend came along who just brought some Eibach springs and roll bars for his 350Z. He took some pics...













Zed is a lovely car... Very smooth power delivery which is a stark contrast to the punch in the base of the spine delivery of mine.

 

Ross - R looks stunning fella. Liking the red trim on the wheels of the 350z. Would look sweet on yours too. Esp with the red calipers.

I will be getting some on mine next time I see him as can always peel them off again if they look pants.

Dads I missed out on a bargain uk wagon because my mate who was going to buy my bmw convertible messed me about with money. Going to get the bm tidied up and get it up for sale now that there's been some nice weather. I'm torn between another scoob or getting something like an old xr3i, stripping it out to practically nothing and doing a couple of track days and just putting what's left to one side for when i get the scooby itch again

On the plus side for Dad's wagon, it's got a nice uprated exeedy sitting waiting to go in, along with a 6kg flywheel. Should make the stealth wagon take off a bit quicker

If you want to do a track day car, I really wouldn't go for a Ford. A friend used to have an XR2 and the driveshafts were popping out if he took a bend too hard. The handling is awful as well (I had a go in his stripped, caged, XR2 turbo and my old Pug was better in every aspect). I'm probably bias but I would defintely go 205 route again for just a fun track car..

Mi16, twin webber 45's, forged & balanced bottom end, Peugeot sport cams, Group N exhaust, Bilsteins, bigger brakes and a bunch of other stuff on the heads/inlet manifold etc. Estimated at 220 bhp by TMS and was faster than a variety of much more expensive machinery like Porsches, Imprezas, Teg R's etc.

i'd love to get dad's wagon off him. may not be huge power but very well set up and it surprises people as it's got the equal length tubular headers and it's so damn quiet. they think it's a sport with a turbo 2000 front end

speaking of drive shaft probs on fords, yup i remember it well. me and a few mates used to get that problem on a couple of our xr2is, rst etc. never had it happen on a cossie though.

A Cosworth would be a smart buy.... I have a hankering for an RS500 in black or white .

Just buy another RA and subtly mod it... the Mrs will never notice* ...

This is an RB Motorsport ACT gauge with two probes and switch so you can monitor pre and post intercooler temps.



Hoping to get it fitted soon, but haven't decided how I'm going to mount it yet.

This is a Bosch Motorsport fuel pump, not the 044 but rather the 10 bar monster. This much more than I need, but better to be safe than sorry .

It's the SM Engineeering Type 2 pot. Very light and quality is excellent...

No other updates at the moment, just trying to get the bits together and make up my mind how I should do the fuel lines.

No real updates from me at the moment as still trying to decide how many adpators and what type I will be needing for my fuel setup.

I am also looking for a rear strut brace. If anyone has a recommendation and has pics of them fitted, it would be appreciated.

Do folk recommend the upper or the lower braces?

Ross, I have a cusco lower front four point brace...makes for a super stiff font end, i'm probably going to end up sourcing the rear cusco lower brace too.
