Optimax is indeed made at the Shell refinery in Ellesmere Port (where I worked until recently) but it doesn't follow that it is any cheaper because of this. One of the nearest Shell petrol stations is on the M56 junction 2 miles from the distribution point. This was about 7p/litre dearer than the one I use in Nottingham - 100 miles away
