John, it is horrible to watch happen to someone you love and respect. Your support and friendship would have meant a lot I am sure.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

Hectic

Hope you and your family are OK, sad, sad news, but like you say, he is at rest now and nothing can hurt him any more

Few hard days ahead of you both now, I hope you both find the strength to muddle through

Big hug to you and your wife.

Condolences from myself and Sonic

i feel for you John

at least he had family with him, you did all you could and you should feel proud that he had your support.

pour yourself a drink and toast the good old days, remember what you had not what you have lost...

Thanks all for the thoughts,..
In a sense its a relief.. but it now moves on to the next stage of things.... really where I now need to be a 'rock' for the wife and others in the family.. no doubt it'll hit me harder than it has , at some point...

It will and it will also be hard for you being that rock because you won't grieve properly until everyone else stops leaning on you so much.

You go through a whole rainbow of emotions an those first few weeks too, one minute numb, the next upset, the next depressed (that's how it was for me anyway) I guess y ou just have to go through the motions, when realisation sets in ,that's when it gets me the most I hope you'll be OK hun

So sorry to hear your news John.
I have not posted on this thread for a while as I have not been able to find the words to say.
I feel for everyone and everybody who has, or is going through this horrible illness.
It brought a tear to my eye tonight in all truth.
Thinking of you all, ALWAYS.

My sincere condolences John, it is an awful affliction and it is terrible to hear when someone eventually passes on even though it was expected. I am sure his family will be able to depend on you now.

I had my 3 monthly review yesterday in Leeds.
They have found another lump. They said that they would try and get me a scan within 7-10 days, but it could take up to three weeks to process.
Yesterday was not a good day for me at all in all sincerity.
So, next they will do a scan and check the lymph nodes and if they are suspicious of anything they will take a sample and screen (test) it.
If the lump does come back as cancerous, then I will have to undergo another operation.
What they have also mentioned is removal of all the lymph nodes from the affected area, but although this method is in the early stage of research so not proven yet as a cure.
So I could have, what is considered a major operation for nothing in the end.
Anyway, my thoughts are with you all.
Sorry to rant on,
Anthony

I hope they manage to get to see you sooner than that BEP.

Fingers crossed it will be all clear, but best to take precautions.

HAve only just caught up with this thread since my last post..

Heccy - I'm really sorry to hear about your brother in law. As others have said he is no longer suffering and is now at peace. My thoughts are with you & Mrs Heccy.

BEP - They have found the lump and are invetigating etc - cold comfort I know, but don't fear the worst until you are told the outcome. If it is nasty, they can operate, and as you said it is not proven as a yet a cure - on the other hand it's not proven that it isn't a cure.. keep strong, and rant on if you want - we are all here to be ranted on, and to listen. Fingers crossed

i know what you mean too before my nan passed away when we was away on holiday we always use to worry about her dying while we was gone and if the phone rang early in the morning that it might of been bad news now its like we can go away and not have to worry because we know she's with us all the time

The relief will come largely from the subconscious fact that you know he is now at peace hectic. He is no longer living in pain and concern about all the rest of it all.

Anthony,

My best wishes for your full diagnosis, I can well understand how you are feeling. We all live with that hanging over our heads after had an operation for that. The good thing is that with the checks we get now for some time to come-if anything starts up they will see it early and that makes all the difference.

It's 4 years today since my Dad died I'm not in floods of tears every 5 minutes, just feeling odd, can't be bothered to do much, slept in, can't be bothered with other people, just feel like having a lazy day, my Mam might be coming through later so we might go out somewhere.

RIP Dad

Hows everyone else doing-

Sara?

Hectic?

Lesley?

Anthony?

And anyone else I've missed

Keep your chin up Julz. If ever you need us, we`ll be here
I hope you didn`t spend all of ya mams money???

I have the date for my scan, its next Wed morning in Leeds. I`m papping myself, but prepared.
Everyone on this thread has been great in whatever circumstances people have posted up about, there is always help just around the corner.
I have also been asked to take part in a research towards this illness, which I have accepted.
I was asked last Thursday as to whether I was still willing to participate in this study, I answered "YES"
Hope everyone is well.

wife is 'In Charge ' as it were for ordering/sorting all the flowers from this end, they were all ordered on tuesday...I drove her to the florists.. she coped admirably to be honest.. not too many flowers as money is mainly going to cancer charities and the Hospice he was at (he also did voluntary work for years at a local kiddies Hospice so some money is being sent there, too).Funeral is next Tuesday Ive got to sort who's going in which car etc from this end .. as Im the only one that knows the way to Shrewsbury etc from here, I will be leading the cars up there.. (most of others are 'shopping/school run ' drivers )but as far as 'it' goes . everyones fine..

*Fingers crossed * Anthony
*Hugs* Julz

*thoughts* for everyone else

Half of my dads toungue is somewhere in the bowels of John Radcliffe Hospital, being used to study oral cancer, and to train up and coming doctors

If everyone said yes, the closer we might be to getting more answers, developing more treatments and saving even more lives - I applaud you for your strength of mind and for your courage, BEP - good luck for Wednesday, I will be thinking of you
