it was different for me as i didn't realize that mum was so near to the end. when the call came early one morning to say she had passed away i was totally unprepared.
you still wont be prepared even if you are expecting it. as you bro in law has a different cancer from mine and Duncans mum i cant advise you on what to expect, but the staff will help you through it.

Hope you're both OK and make the most of the time while you're there
Good luck, hope it's not too distressing when you all see him, it can be awful seeing them in such a bad way
When my Grandma died, she wasted away and was unrecogniseable towards the end.....her last few weeks my Mum stopped me from seeing her so I could remember her when she was still as much *herself* as she could be at the time, I felt bad at the time because I wanted to see her, but I am glad now as my last memory of her alive was her holding my Tania when she was a few weeks old and she was really happy and chuffed to bits with her new great grandchild
Will be thinking of you....

So sorry to hear about your Brother in Law Hectic, I hope he is comfortable now. this is an awful illness to get!
I had the results of my first scan after the operation yesterday, it is the most significant one my doctor said.
It is clear thank goodness so a better start to the New Year.

went over there yesterday evening. poor bloke didnt even know we were there... wife is 'happier' (wierd word I know, but) He's drifting in and out of 'sleep'.. not feeling any pain (apparently) and on no medication at all.. quite a sombre drive home afterwards.... wife is on eggshells as every time the phone rings she thinks its 'the' call... she hasn't gone in to work today.. just not in the right 'frame of mind' to deal with thirty -odd kiddies..
Les,..... nice bit of news

... (time is near, I know that) its just trying to 'be there' for the wife etc like I say, cos we're the only ones really in the family that have been there.. phone is continuous and when it rings she 'bricks it..

From: It's like finding a cocktail sausage, when what you really wanted was a rather large saveloy.
I know how you feel Steph. I found it pretty hard but even if you do have a catch in your voice, everyone will be sure to understand and will think better of you for it anyway.
Thanks to everyone for your good wishes.

Recieved a phonecall about an half hour ago.. Bro In Law succumbed at about 5.00 pm this evening... at least hes now at rest.
went up to see him on Monday, he was drifting in and out not really knowing anything about his surroundings. My wife said as we left, "Im not going to see him again ,am I?... "
She's now had to go down to her mums to break the news. I was supposed to be going off out tonight but cant be fussed.. too far away and no longer in the mood..
personally ,thankful his battle is over in the sense that he's not going to suffer anymore, but still saddened that this strong, proud man has been taken away by a silent killer from within...
R.I.P, Mal.... Goodnight, God bless you .
