i didnt realise it was for 6 months
it must be taking its toll now. do you need a whole course before you see results or will the chemo be working already?
my mum has to go to Harefield next week to see the doc who doesnt want do do her cryo surgery. he will either say he wont do it at all or that it is my mums decision. obviousley it is risky having anesthetic with brain tumours but mum said she would go for it. am feeling very apprehensive ATM, if she has the op it could be the last time i see her alive and thats scaring the pants off me

Its a set course for 6 months Sara, the aim is to sort any remaining cancer cells after the operation. They can't tell how it is going as far as the cells are concerned but I will have to be checked regularly for any possible tumours for 5 years afterwards.
Hope all goes well for your mum. I would feel as frightened as you about it all.
Best wishes to her from me.

fingers crossed for you Leslie
my mum's not so well, she has a chest infection and fluid on her lung. if she moves she cant breath. its all a bit scarey as each bad thing that happens you think that the time has come when she wont get better anymore. i have been telling myself that we will probably have loads of episodes like this and the end isnt in sight

My thoughts are with everyone going through treatment... it's a old rough road
SS - Your poor mum.. this isn't what she needs on top of everything else. As you said , things like this are bound to arise - chest infections are common for people who have had radiotherapy. Just keep doing what you are doing, and take each thing as it comes... we are all thinking of you xx

mum is getting better from her pnnemonia(sp) the antibiotics are working
i thought for a bit that she had hit the downward slope and wouldnt recover. she will be given chemo in two weeks for her lungs. she has been told to eat everything in sight as she will lose weight throughout the treatment. there is even a small chance that i can take her on holibobs in September

Nice to hear that Sara, give your mum my wishes.
I have recently had a scare myself with a melanoma removed from my back. Yep checkups for the next 5 years and possibly further removal of all my lymph nodes under my arm. So although I don`t know how you and your family are feeling at the moment, all you need to do is stick together. Think positive and look forward to your holibobs as you say darn Sarf.

sorry to hear about your melanoma. do you know why you got it? its hard to imagine that it can be a killer when its just your skin.......hope it goes well for you, keep us informed how you go
It was caused by sun Sara. It was just so frightening waiting for the results when they preliminary removed the mole, 2 weeks!
They also said it had probably been growing for 15 years or more. And if it wasn`t for my wife making me an appointment at the docs I would have left it. Its so important to have friends and family at a difficult time, people who care. The worst scenario is, if I would have left it it would have eventually spread and . . . . . . . . .
It has totally made me think how lucky I am and turned my life around.
I just don`t know what to say.
