what we will also do if possible is sample a few "typical" modified scoobs on the 9th, and put up the result and the type of exhaust/system/mods etc so you can see how they fare at 4k revs.
most of the modded cars there last time were from 98db-102db at that rev point. a couple touched 104db at 4k revs. for comparison my own car (gt4) has a 3" downpipe, de- cat and a blitz nur system with no bung, and is @ 99db at 4k.
if you'd like to provide comparison and test on the 9th, please email me offlist and we'll take details etc.
cheers

you'd be going some to fail 105db static test, most failures for 98db drive-bys are from the induction noise, we managed to get Mikee Singh's car down from over 105db drive-by to 98db by only building an airbox and that's with over 500bhp and the usual 3" decat exhaust system

Chris, why not let the three demo cars run whenever they like. I for one wouldnt mind as they are all top blokes.

i also have a couple of other demo cars in mind, and to be fair they all would be happily accepted i reckon by the crowd and other competitors! no probs with them doing a few more runs. it may well be that keith and tim fancy a head-to-head, i'll discuss it with them both. Mick with the Jun lemon will happily race anything and anybody anyway! ;-)

I'm a bit *****d off actually.....I want to go to the Shootout, but I'm due to fly out to Angola on the 17/18th to join "my" ship for a sail back to Europe.

If the job were are on (I'm in Angola now) slips by a few days, that means I won't fly out until (possibly) after the 21st, and therefore might be able to make the Shootout, but I cannot know if this will happen.......until it happens.

I don't want to pay £55 for a day and then not manage to get there, but on the other hand, I don't want to be able to go to the Shootout and not run the car because I wasn't sure I'd make it................I'm in a bit of a quandary!!!

I was so looking forward to beating you all too!!!!!

Lightbulb Clutch

Who is the nearest Scooby dealer to the shootout if my clutch was to give up the ghost?

It may be an idea for some of the big dealers, such as Scooby Clinic and the like to set up a mobile garage. If ever there was a good chance of some ones clutch going, this is the meet it will happen.

May be you will get the chance to fit the HKS to my car Kev?

I doubt any dealer's going to help much on a Sunday

Join the AA, if it goes, get a tow off the site and then get them to come with a recovery wagon.

Thumbs up Tow

Good Idea. Have the first bit under control, just require u 2 tow me off site if need be. I will bring the rope.

Not that, I am intending to thrash it down the strip (famous last words) just trying it out for the experience. I don't think my standard clutch would last to long. We shall c. cheers JB.

Mine lasted ok last year, with the first few launches really tanning the clutch and stinkin like ****, ended up getting 13 runs in before the end of qualifying. Only replaced it 2 months ago (for an uprated one )

And as for not thrashing it... we'll see

As for the tow, no probs but I doubt you'll need it.
