BTW it was birdy who posted earlir reply
Don't worry about black smoke it is normal for a decatted engine. It runs slightly too rich you should see the state of my 17 month old R34 I have 2 tone blue rear paintwork

nah , its not AM. i'm not gonna say who it is, because ive got a lot of time for them personally, i dont want to drag their name through the dirt, i hope ive avoided this. ive deliberately not mentioned who it is, because it would tarnish them, and do me no favours either.
a bit of black smoke is one thing, this car was choking me on the inside
the tuners could be anyone. i was looking for constructive advice, and i'm glad to say i got it. its been nice to have some moral support
hope your car is all you want it to be what are your expected gains? its an r34 you got isnt it? drooool...bayside blue

Spudgun - you seem to have followed my advice very closely. If you get it sorted you owe me a (passenger) spin. Only problem is you will need to bring it to Ireland, where the guards won't be able to keep up, and they can't prosecute foreigners unless they catch them

some progress!
the tuners have taken the engine to bits and found the problem. the pistons that were fitted were from america, and the firm gave the tuners the wrong measurements for the bore, so the pistons were too small in diameter
the car was also lacking in power due to the fact one of the dump valves(which they fitted) was shagged.
i am now having the pistons replaced with hks ones, and the dump valves being replaced.
engine should start going back together in the next couple of days when the pistons arrive, next week the engines rebuilt, week after they are running it in for 1000 miles
then we'll see......

i need it ready for the big sussex meet on 11th nov

good news...
car is having the miles put on her now as we speak by the tuners.
dump valve has been sorted, hks pistons are in, and while we were at it, ive upgraded the FMIC to a hks 'streetracer'(?)type.
this will allow even more boost!!
i will be getting the car back wednesday(barring anymore feckups) and will be going to the bolney meet in sussex on the 11th of november.
oh, another thing, car gets pimp tinted on tuesday, with spudgun stickers on the rear quarter windows

i will be doing a post on wednesday night. during wednesday daytime we are doing a lap of the m25 and down the a12, just to see what shes made of

Good to hear she is nearly ready.

I have just returned from the GTR track day at Kemble, which was good fun a bit chilly but some good driving and friendly banter.

It was fun watching the group fuss around and make a muffler from an old tin can and tape so as to meet the 105 db set by Easy Track. The car in question had the OS Geiken 3.0 litre block in it with sequential gear box and was kicking up 110 db on its first noise test!!!

Still not fully prepared for Donno tomorrow though!

Spudgun/Blowdog welcome to the world of massive understeer!! Very frightening and still no where near mastering!

..C Ya Ian.

Good news on the car mate, but I thought you weren't spending anymore money on it Pimp tints, bigger FMIC, HKS pistons, I hope they are paying for some of it... Just found a remarkably cheap R33 very near by So cheap can I almost afford it... I will be calling about it tomorrow.

I GOT HER BACK TODAY.....WOO-HOO!

imagine when you got a uk scooby, brand new from the dealers, cats all in there etc.
then you took her back after a few weeks,5k miles on the clock, full ss downpipe and ppp.......thats the difference now!!
this thing just goes and goes...and goes!!!
more oomph than i can believe. and it gets better
at the moment, the tuners want more miles on it. they put 1200 on for me, but reckon on another 3-500 miles to be on the safe side. so theyre only giving me 1bar of boost to play with. after the extra miles, theyre upping it to 1.5bar...cool
all is forgiven, i'm mega happy, this car runs like a dream

I do believe that we need to see some dyno graphs soon!!
Go have a look at the 'how NOT to turbo your engine' thread on i-club, your little hiccup pales into insignificance compared to his!

Spudgun,
This should be in the 'was it you' section but what the hell.
On the bus this evening, going past a certain chippy when I saw a bloody great white monster with gold wheels parked next door where there's usually a sexy Evo 6.
If that's yours your one lucky fella, it's niiiice!

mimms is at the a1/m25 junction, we are going to be there for 10.15 (about 6 evo, 3 supras, 3 gtirs and some others), drive round the clacketts (couple more supras/skylines) and then on to bolney

i a meeting another evo at the waltham abbey junction at 9.50.

as i said i am in loughton so if you fancy coming down the a12 onto the M11 we could meet somewhere in the morning.
