Hi All,
I have Toyo T1R on the rear of my 02 WRX Wagon and Potenzas up front. I have to say i really felt the potenzas were better up front, a lot sharper stearing, and the Toyos on the rear are superb, sooo Grippy, but found them to understeer a bit on the front so i swopped.
I think some tyres are better on scoobies than others, also i think in the long run a mix can be a big improvement to the all round handling, general driveability and long term use. I don't think there is anything wrong with having different tyres back and front. Some of you may totally disagree though.
A couple of weeks ago i test drove the latest 2.5 STi with the potenza REO70. I think the car is great and will be doing a px at my local dealer soon, but those tyres were just phenomenal, Ultra Grippy and really sharp turn in, fantastic!!
Cheers, Scoobie

Marangoni Zeta Linea. Took a chance, and will never buy another performance tyre, I like ‘em that much.
PS Not great for first 1000 miles or so, after that there stunning both dry and wet.

vote here for BRIDGESTONE Potenza RE050A (there is a difference from normal RE050)
these came on my legacy wheels and i was very impressed with the wet weather grip compared to others
tyretest.com rates them and a high preformer and everything but snow (which is why i have winter wheels)

My old WRX originally came to me with Yokohama A539's. These were utter crap. They lasted forever because of the harder compound but offered poor grip in the dry & almost zero grip & confidence in the wet, this with Prodrive settings. I'd never have A539s again.
Changed to Toyo T1S which were much better. More grippy in the dry with good, but obviously reduced, wet weather grip as well. Also lasted well.
We have Toyo T1Rs on our BMW track car, & again these are good with progressive handling. Not the grippiest (they're our road tyres not our track tyres - these are very grippy worn Khumo Ecstas (sp?) ) but this could also be due to the stripped out low vehicle weight...
I have T1Rs on my current R33 Skyline, & these are again fine & lasting well, and are very progressive with any breakaway.
I've not tried Goodyear F1s yet but hope to soon with the new car
In addition, my mate had Pirelli P1 Neros on his Bug-eye & found them to be very good, even on track day outings...

Another vote for Goodyear F1 GSD3's . Just come back from the Tyre garage with a new set of 4 after swapping from Bridgestone REO40s. The car has transformed into something that is no long fidgity. And has bags of grip.

I've got an 05 STi fitted with Bridgestone Potenza 070 CZ's from new. I've never been happy with them since they "tramline" badly and are getting worse as they wear. When I went for a test drive last year, after 200 yards I thought that the demo car had a puncture! They are fine on good road surfaces, motorways etc. and served me well on German autobahns last summer, but on urban roads they are grim.
They don't seem to want to wear out, but I have decided to "bite the bullet" and change them.
Keep this thread going, it's helping me decide which way to go.

when i bought my car last year it had marshall tyres on and they were cr4p
ok in dry but lethal in wet, oversteer and understeer just didnt know what they were going to do.
but have since swopped for eagle f1s and think they are superb no understeer since i fitted them and now have lots more confidence driving car now(1st 4wd car ive owned)
and another tyre that i found ok is nankang not sure which but they were cheap, i bought wheels from a friend for track days and used them on track (bruntingthorpe)when it was chucking it down and standing water on track and apart from abit of tyre roll (15"wheels 50 series profile)cant fault them

i'll give a thumbs up for the michelin ps2's,never really been keen on michelin as they have always more long lasting/quiet drive oriented but since going into F1 they seem to be producing excellent performance tyres as well.
They also do the exalto pe2 now in 225/40y18 and these may be worth a try as the compound seems to be alot stickier, may be too sticky for the weight of the impreza as they are more (light)hot hatch oriented, anyone tried them on the impreza???

The Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD2 has now been replaced by the GSD3. Apparently this has a totallly different tread pattern.
Has anyone fitted these or only the GSD2's?

Hi,
Had the F1's on my Legacy and they were superb
The originally fitted RE40 on my MY03 STi were satisfying but not to use again. I didn't like them in the wet.
At the moment I'm running Dunlop SP9000. They're ok but I will change them in favour for the F1's or SP SPORTMAXX.

Just a note to mention how helpfull this topic is! I'm hopefully picking up my first scoob next week and it's gonna need 4 new boots.
Re the question about F1 differences between D2's & D3's, there is hardly any difference in tread pattern, and I think the differences in the tyre were to do with the sidewall being made more 'comfortable' for low profile users.
I currently have a 206 GTi with D2's on the back, and D3's on the front, the best tyres i've tried to date!! Although i'm tempted by the Michelin Sports!?!!? Choices!!!

I have just ordered 4 Toyo Proxes T1-R's to replace the Bridgstone REO70's which I like by the way. Even in the wet they aren't as bad as some say if you show a little respect. I was going to go to F1 GSD3's but I have heard reports of Subaru's chewing up the inside edge from owners and Tyre fitting centres so decided against them. I did run the F1 GSD2's on my Clio Cup 172 and they were fantastics tyres in both dry and wet conditions, they do take a little time to scrub in properly though, so be carefull at first.
Anyway, hope I will be happy with the toyo's

Eagle F1's for Me
As the title, just changed wheels to Pff7's 18" and fitted f1's at the advice of some scooby owners and the tyre centre, great tyres so far in both wet and dry conditions (only 600 miles) very glad to get rid of the bridgestones, utterly crap, why fit them as standard!
