How easy is it to change a single plug socket into a double one also is it easy to install an extra socket?
and is it better to fit skirtingboards after the plasterer has done the room or before I will be fitting the architrave around the door before he plasters so its neat but unsure on skirtingboards
I dont want the boards to stick out beyond the arch

Very easy as a double is still fed by the same amount of cables. All you need to do is chase the wall, and get a double back socket fitted

dont think there is much difference to be honest, although I would do it along with the architrave so before

yep. you could also run the power under the floorboards but that is a major pita especially when you have a plasterer in.

Ive just done one in my garage, although the cable isnt hidden as its the grey block and it doesnt need to be hidden.

Dont forget though, adding an additional socket has to be done by a part p approved electrician, unless of course it was put in many years ago

dont know, cant remember, however your part p will know

Depending on how old your existing wires are though, I think you need to have the new colour codes so if the old wiring is very old then I dont think you can add to it without a rewire (unless you get hold of some of the older cable )

again though your part p electrician can advise

also 1 wall needs taking to the brickwork as the plaster is loose in most places

Agreed

If you have the skirtings on before any plastering, they WILL get covered in plaster, meaning either sanding them down afterwards or whiping them whilst the plaster is still soft
Put them on after the job is done, and the walls are painted, and the finish will be miles better dude (trust me, im a painter and decorator, well almost )

Right gonna jump in the bath for a wallo

you should put extra sockets into the ring circuit, then use 1.5mm, if its a spur then 2.5mm , sure thats right moneys will know
remember all socket wiring goes directly down the wall from the socket and under the floor!!!!
