I have just bought 4x4 DVD from Duke with British Army using 300 TDi Defenders on the Manx Rally in 2005 - with some minor suspension mods, the Defenders went and handled very well.

Rich, I did a course at the Baskerville Challenge, and it was the one thing impressed on me there - you DON'T want to roll an uncaged LR! I had one in Mongolia for a year, treated it with respect with that in mind (didn't stop me getting stuck in a river though
). I also remember the Stig taking the Overfinch RR round the TG track - claimed it was the scariest thing he'd ever driven.
I've no doubt they're great in a straight line, but I can think of better things for going round corners in.

Been looking at the 4x4's and had eyes on a Rav4 before checking out Land Rovers (Freelander) and it seems like a hell of a lot of car for the money.
Does anyone have any opinions/experiences on these?
My budget is 9k.
Cheers!
