so if you own an impreza an hate it so much sell it and buy something else!
I did

Truthfully I loved my scooby. But out of all my quick cars it is the one that promised the most and relative to that promise delivered the least - if that makes sense.

EDIT: for got the 'd' in love'd' (don't have a scooby anymore)

Yeah makes sense. good off the line but becomes disapponting. Still, love it to bits so a few mods are in the pipeline.

THis will always happen and there are always exeption to the rule M3 Vs VTS but you have to spend mega bucks

Yeah a Saxo beat an M3 but at the end of the day you are paying for a lot more than 1/4mile times when you buy a car usually

It will always happen and will always get 6 page replies on all forums

I had 2 saxos and gave a good bang for your buck but you can't drive em forever (Although not sure about G think he will keep it forever!!!)

aka hairymonkey for the ssc guys!
lol yeah i came a bit stuck back then 70mm was a bit too low for the damp sand

lol

Ewan that is baaaaaaad!! Were you badly injured?

LOL, if it was a standard 2.0 GSI then you were racing VTRs or sh*t drivers in VTSs! My aunty had one of these when I had my vts and it really was quite dissapointing in a straightline and couldn't match the vts.

Just finished ploughing the snow I see

Haven't read ANY of this thread, don't care if a modified VTS could give an Impreza a 'run for its money' at the end of the day its still an ugly French ****box

I had vts with high lift cams, superchip, viper induction and full race de-cat. Sold it and bought sti bugeye with ppp. No contest any gear any speed the scoob kills it. Lovely handling cars tho. So much fun and i Have a place for it anytime. But who cares. Just enjoy what you drive whatever it is.

Vauxhall never made a 2.0L corsa, the engine was from a calibra!

ended up getting bored smoking the over rated french **** boxes!

much more fun blasting past "mr i rule the road" in his audi tt!

It was a Corsa GSI, probably around 1998-1999 model, give or take. I'm pretty sure it was a 2.0? It was the top or the corsa range at the time and pretty quick but not as fast as the saxo.

VTS' with just cams/filter/exhaust will make nowhere near 160bhp. Infact, it will probably be slower/less power than standard due to the fuelling being all over the place. It seems that, with a 'proper' remap(not some crappy superchip thing) of the std ecu(wayne schofield)&cams/filter exhaust, you'll probably reach between 150-160@fly.

Over a 1/4 mile, a vts with 160bhp vs std uk impreza, the impreza will easily come out on top, but on a track once rolling, there would be little in it imo.

As for your mate in the 182 race him from 3rd gear up - you'll pull away but he won't become a dot.
My mate has got a 182 cup. I have got a 2002 STI ppp, trust me, boy is he a dot on the horizon when i try.

This thread makes you laugh!
"Bloke down pub said this", "my mate said that" "my brother who's also my uncle said somthing else" what a complete load of cr@p!
I've beat this in my scoob, I've blown that away, and you can guarantee there will be some poor tossa posting pictures of another dead scooby and everyone will be posting "Ah feel sorry for you mate" or "are you o.k?" "hope no one was hurt"
All I can say that next time you're racing someone if you decide to have an accident please try and kill yourself and not some poor innocent mother pushing a pram
Its threads like this that make Impreza ownership an embarassment!

My Maxi 1750 HL with twin Dellorto carbs has wasted Saxo's between 35 and 55mph. They just don't have the low down grunt. The seats don't fold completely flat either

SB - Corsa GSi's came with a 1.6. Any with a 2L has had an engine swap.

Did not know that - always though it was a 2.0. It was a 1.6 then as it was standard.

The biggest factory fitted engine in the corsa was a 1.8 which had fairly poor power for size of engine. The 2.0l from the cav/calibra 16v was the best engine, especially the red top. Saxo might keep up if it was heavily modded, however if the red top was in a Nova u would have no chance.
