Awesome power, awesome delivery, awesome sound from the bodies
Just a few issues to sort out (seized beam )
I can categorically state I will never have an issue with Scoobs, even modded ones
LSD may be needed at some point though

Look forward to seeing it mate ........
Mine is with my mate for a list of issues before it goes back to the ring next month. Need to get them done as it will be away for 10 months again.
clutch
Engine refresh
Starter motor
remove 4 and fit 6 point harnesses
Disks
pads
and anything else he finds.

As for the Saxo, if its running a true 160bhp it will no doubt be very fast. In a drag race if it/when it gets the power down it will be tough to beat. Only one way to find out...

Standard figures are 7.7sec to 60 and top speed of 135mph.
Its the whole perceived speed thing, I remember driving a S13 200sx (j reg.) it absolutly flew and it was standard, becuase it was old and rickoty it FELT fast. Similarly, when in a Civic Type-R racing that very same 200sx (by the way I felt that the 200sx was the fastest car I'd ever driven) the civic won hands down.
I bet the Saxo would FEEL faster, but hasn't got the grunt to match a Scooby.
Ever driven a Volvo T5, the ones cops used to use. Those things are very very fast, almost scooby fast. But because they are big, you don't feel it as much. Old shape 3.0 twin-turbo supra's were the same....
Cue more debate

I had a standard 97 Celica GT (non turbo 168bhp) and played on the M55 with a VTS and wew matched each other... Like for like...
Both my scoobies are infinately faster than my Celica was and my latest Scoob is barely modified but would eat my Celica and a standard VTS without a whim...
With the mods mentioned on this boys saxo it might be a tad quicker than standard but I believe way behind an impreza turbo.
Even if Im wrong I couldnt give a **** because I am Zod. Kneel before me :

Had a mark 2 VTS, fantastic car, the handling was great and the steering so precise, makes my STI feel like a lumbering dinosaur. Had a very twitchy back end on rough surfaces, which a subaru just shakes off though. In a straight line, I don’t remember it being particularly quick.
Is 160bhp possible from that engine?

Not quite the same but an indication of how never to underestimate a car - I had a Nissan GTIR before my Impreza and with a few mods it was only about 250hp.
A good friend has a 1984 white mini with a 1380 mini miglia (sp) engine. Up to 80 I couldn't shake him and I would say he was a little faster, once his gearing let him down I pulled away.
Haven't had a go since he put a 5 speeder in though.

Think it got broken in the end - real shame as it was converted from new and was only 2 IIRC in sorrento green.
Either that or black dimma with the proper wheels etc and the above engine. I doubt that would ever leave my possesion!

K-Tec racing turbo'd a Clio 16v (139bhp) standard and only made a maximum of 199 Bhp, thats with about £6000's worth of work.
Unless this VTS guys has stacks of cash he could no way beat a scooby. Got to remember that Clio turbo'd started with more Bhp, from a bigger engine (2.0Lr)

my vts spec was !
pipercross viper induction kit
magnex full system
magnex de cat
Miltek 4-2-1 manifold
Kent Pt51 ultimate fast road camshafts
Collins powerchip (raised limiter to 8000rpm)
RR @ 133bhp @wheels
and i reckon against a std classic after 25mph rolling start i wud be all over it to 120mph .. quite easilt too.
me mates wrx type uk thing was supposed to be around 300bhp. and i never went home crying when we used to play... admitedly after 100mph he use to pull away but as said earlier 2litre turbo vs 1600cc so i had nothing to be ashamed of !
great little cars for fun. cheap as chips too. r plates now can be picked up for as little as 1200.

160 bhp Saxo = 16.7sec to 100mph and 6.7s to 60mph according to LTBHP. A standard UK Turbo is still quicker.
A slightly modded one will be even faster. I have a UK turbo with decat, fuel pump, fse and remap and I get 0-100 in 11.5s (5.2secs faster than the 160bhp Saxo) and 0-60mph in 4.7s (AP22 figures).
Big power in a front wheel drive car does not equal performance. I had a 190BHP 2.0 16V Nova a while back. With me sat in it, it weighed 735KG giving it a 262bhp/tonne. I managed a 13.6s qtr @ 106mph. It wheels span in 1st - 4th gear in the dry....brutal but as much use as **** on a fish.
My Scoob is quicker than the Nova over the qtr, 0-60, 0-100, 100+ and 60-100 with only 235bhp/ tonne and I can use that power all of the time. As the saying goes, power is nothing without control.

now dont shoot me down here but i had a vts before i got the sti and these things are nippy it will do 0 to 60 in 7.2sec and i have seen 135mph but botteled it at that.the only time a vts will keep up with a standerd wrx is around some bends thats where they are the most fun. but as the sprint times states it is not going to keep up on the set off. it did nothing but wheel spin with only 120bhp so would not move with 160+bhp off the line.

I had a VTR, and it was a bag of S**t, straight out the garage. Handled well, but fell to bits nearly every time i drove it. The VTS was a bit quicker, but nothing special. Traded it in for a 172 Cup. Now that was a pretty quick car. I'd imagine that a 172/182 cup would give a standard WRX a run for its money. But saxo's are cheap plastic french rubbish. and not very fast.

spot on.Subarus will always be quicker than any saxo.Quite surprised this thread is still going!!!!!

I own both a top end Saxo and a top end Scooby.
This is a stupid thread, the saxo is not a performance rally car.
We call it VT attitude on the Saxo forum. Kids who dont know what they are talking about because they havnt driven anything more powerful. Sad we know.
Thanks
