The pleasure

the pain

notice how Rich the car is running in closed loop - nothings ever easy

anyone have any ideas the car runs fine on boost but far to rich on closed loop, this tagged with the fact the car will hunt if I hold 2k revs when in nutral

idle is fine - this also happened before the turbo\injectors were fit

API tried a different lamda and maff ( it wouldnt pass the mot on emmisions)

Rich the graphs don't show that you are rich on closed loop (which its not btw as you drive) since the runs are done at wot the car is open loop the whole time so you can't see closed loop afr on these.

Boost response is typical for a rolling road, you had 1 bar at 3800 on the road.

WR1 last weekend had 1 bar at 3400 yet rollers showed the 1 bar point to be 1000 rpm later, symptomatic of the loading.

cheers

Bob

sorry Bob Im trying to type what the guy who was doing the dyno run said

he was saying it was running way to rich off boost and he thought it could be linked to the cars funny 2k hunting on idle, rich enough to cause bore wash which had me spooked (12:1)

if you say im fine on the road i will leave alone, thanks for the email explained allot,

to but my mind at rest on running round town at 3k revs what would you expect the psi3 afr to say

Just looked over the data log and it was running at 0.96/0.99 lambda off boost depending on how close you were to zero boost, nowhere near .82, sure he was off boost and not just onto open loop ?

Chuffed for you Rich - great results. only 20BHP less than mine with less boost showing all is well and fit.

Cheapest option is just convert your existing turbo as you say, with supporting stuff see you to maybe 470/480

obviously means gearbox and ECU though so big bucks

I would myself, but its much down to personal preference. I just like an engine to rev.

I *think* yours has a semi closed deck anyway which will be sufficient.
STI certainly has of that year.

Rich mine has a semi closed deck block and has no problems.

At 470/480 the oem ecu will still do it although Motec for preference.

Things are starting to move again

started to think about the heads

https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...r-400-bhp.html

im going to start looking for garages to do the work, this one is a bit over my head

will try RCM first as they have been so good in the last 2 years i have been dealing with them, i just hope they don't blow my budget away

second im thinking API as David has been so helpfull in some of my questions and seems to have a good rep, not to mention the ease of getting the gear box sorted

I have been burnt in the past and if it wasn't for Bob R helping me out the scoob would have been sold and i don't want to be put in that position again

Mark a star as always

but its more a space issue we have 3 cars on the drive and 3 motorbikes in the garage - i have no room to take an engine out and have space to work

remembering it would take me months

thanks for the offer all the same

Mark

I've some Sti 7 heads & I fancied playing with them. Any chance of giving me some advice of what to take off and where to remove metal. Pictures would be useful.

thanks Chaz

ok RCM still not got back to me, and I have chased it a few times, so I had a trip out to API today

as usual David has talked me through a load of options but i must admit i do like the sound of going 2.5 and with all the recent good comments of how well the 2.5s are going with the md321T and being a superb road car

i am very tempted with

2.5 block, rods, pistons, race bearings

heads , sti 5 cams, uprated springs & valves all polished up and flow tested

get rid of the tumblers and fit sti 8 inlet manifold

braided fuel line running in parallel

p20 housing

ppg gear set

if I was to incraese the fuel pressure of the 650's would they run 450bhp ? and would i be better of moving to a bosh fuel pump at this level
