Hi

the way I understand it is

the turbo is supplying the engine with a set pressure of air

at high revs my engine is using all the available air the turbo can provide and starts sucking air away from the turbo

in my case the turbo is only capable of suppling 1.6 bar at the top end on the rev range

Possible ways to improve this could be

Bigger turbo
Reduce the size of the inlet
Reduce the size of the up pipe

i will do something about it one day but enjoying the car to much, if I ever feel I want more power it will be emails flying to Bob to see what he thinks would be best

I am sure the speeds limits must come and go in a blink of an eye must be 60 in mid to high 3s ?. have you decided on the 6 speed yet ?

Ha ha feel really sorry for you having to put up with all that power

not got a clue on 0 -60, probably have a better idea when its been on the rollers

regards the 6 speed, now the cars mapped I do feel that the 5 speed helps to keep the revs in the power band, if it pops I will get a 6 speed for now its staying

and as for waiting, its worth every second

FQ 400 is around the 3.8 mark, with 100 more bhp it must be around the mid 3s. and the turbo was sold last week for the full price thanks for you post

I really don't think im 100 more as it stands, If i tell my self im running 450bhp i know i won't be dissapointed come the roller session

its a shame Bob doesn't come one here as oftern as he did as he would be in a better position to compare mine againest other 2.5's he has seen

I have had a small issue with the cel light flashing at certian loads, normally when i just come on boost, Im waiting to hear back from Bob but im thinking it could be map related. I have now recieved a new ks3 knock analyser which hopefully be better than the knocklink

will write up a review soon

Great update there Rich, it sounds like you have got yourself quite a car now

I've driven a friends 2.5 type-r and it helps me understand what your trying to describe fully.... a completely different driving experiance and very difficult to put into words for anyone that has never been able to have the experiance to understand. Low down raw engine power/grunt unlike the 2.0 feeling in mine it's quite different for sure and for anyone thinking of going that route they really need to drive one first to fully understand I feel.

Looking forward to hopefully bumping into you somewhere along the line Rich as I'm looking to have a look under the bonnet

Running on the tesco 99 stuff as it stands as its easy for me to get hold of - Christmas will soon come round

if you are going for a spec like mine and you are going to go with Bob for the mapping you could do allot worse than email him asking what he thinks, Im sure he will fill your head with a few ideas

Just re-read this from start to finish. Any news on power in the end?

Hi just seen this

still no rolling road figures , if RCM have the rollers setup for the next service in Febuary I might give it a go

Yesterday I took the car out for the first time in 2 months
2 tanks of fuel later and a huge grin...... its all worth it in the end !!!

I asked RCM to knock me up a quick rough quote for going rotated with the turbo but it was so far beyond what im willing to spend
and it still seems that there is not a standard fit turbo that reliably hits 500 bhp on pump fuel

Does any one know exactly what is required to rotate the turbo ?

quick guess says

new turbo
inlet pipe
filter
down \up pipe
re working of the intercooler pipes

have I missed any thing ?
