Just got this from one of my colleagues, no word of a lie.

He was at his dentist yesterday, where the hygienist is Danish. They had a patient in who was Muslim. They got into a general conversation about things happenning in the world, and obviously this came up. She happened to mention that she was Danish, whereupon the man got up and told them he would have nothing more to do with them, and walked out.

Now if this is the behaviour of what i presume was a non militant, "ordinary" Muslim, what hope is there really?? Why is he even IN our country?? If he's THAT bloody offended, go somewhere where that view will be sympathised with.

More Danish embassies under attack today apparently...

Maybe he was confused and thought she had actualy done the cartoons in her spare time then sent them to be published in Denmark? Either that or he's a loon...........hmmmmm, tricky one.

It's even worse... Danes -> Scandinavians -> EU -> "The West".

An Iranian newspaper is now holding a contest for "holocaust cartoons". Sigh.

Telboy,

It is all very well to hold up such examples but do you really understand the feelings of a Muslim when the Prophet Muhammed is so badly insulted in complete contradiction to the ethics of his religion which is such a major part of his life?

We have a completely different outlook on life even if so many Christians did object strongly to "the Life of Brian" and Jerry Springer's outright blasphemy in his show.

If you can't get your head around that then I recommend that you read Asifscoob's and Aquil's posts with an open mind to see how the normal moderate Muslim thinks.

Its really down to a bit more tolerance and a willing to understand how others think and a bit of respect for their beliefs even if they are different to yours.

Nothing PC in that either!

Les

The irony of it all. Cartoons put in paper a fair while ago. A few people saw it, mainly danes I guess. Anyway, no real issue so far...

Now some muslim takes the pics (I'm sure there's more to this part of the story) and effectively shows it to the world 'in protest' probably deliberately just to stir up emotions etc.

Muslims don't want these pics to be seen yet all their (the protesters at least) actions have meant that the pics get, and continue to get, more and more exposure. Isn't that what they don't want? Or are they (probably a select few, who knows) just looking for an excuse to stir up trouble? Hardly anyone would have seen the pics if there hadn't been such a furore.

To summarise
A - The paper has enabled people to see these pictures.
B - The protesting muslims have made darn sure everyone has seen them.

Belgian anti-terrorist intelligence (yeah ok, joke ) now link the string of events to the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood organisation.

Breaking News: Omar Khayam has been re-arrested and sent back to prison. Not before time. However, it was for breaching his bail conditions and NOT inciting racial hatred etc. He's in the right place, but not necessarily for the right reason.

"and NOT inciting racial hatred "

irony is the hatred he incited was against Muslims by getting himself slapped on the front page of The Sun dressed as a Muslim Terrorist!

Tiggs,

You're right, but he probably wouldn't be able to comprehend that.

Its just a shame your posts/views/explanations arn't more highly publicised not only in this country but across the World to both non muslims but also to extremist nations such as Iran. You deserve to be the voice of the British Council of Muslims and speak out like you do here. Hmmm, OK, but I've just seen on teletext that 650 leaders of UK mosques are meeting in Birmingham today in order to co-ordinate MORE
protests

I would THINK they've made their point, worldwide, over the last week, but no, MORE protests to come.

Perhaps we, the moderate MINORITY () of non-muslims ought to take to the streets protesting about Abu Hamza and what he's done? We could probably get 6 weeks of protesting out of THAT

Why can't they let it go now, they have shown us how upset they are, they have shown us how much they care, (at least for their own), and they have had an apology. What the fek do they want now?

Danish newspaper has commissioned 12 cartoons regarding the Danish PM's response to the crisis. Click on each one to get an English translation. (Link didn't work for me in Firefox, had to use IE).

I quite like the yellow one with the four black and white guys.

My pleasure Telboy. Yes you would expect me to say that and I stand by what I said.

Tiggs, you just did not get the point of the post!

You didn't say anything at all though, Leslie, that's my point.

I digress.

Interesting view from one of my research writers today. How come, for such supposedly impoverished parts of the world, they can suddenly rustle up so many Danish flags to burn? Doesn't this smack of a pre-planned uprising to some extent? Makes you wonder...

Tel, do try to stay with the programme

1) most of the flags were "self-made", i.e. with paint

but

2) if you care to read what's happening, it is already obvious there is a "staged" part to it - see my link above.

Khameiny, the spiritual leader of Iran, has declared the cartoons a "zionist operation" yesterday

Of course it is staged.
