www.letstorquebhp.com will give you a rough estimate of 1/4 mile times.put cars power in,and weight and it calculates a time you should be aiming for for
0-60
1/4 mile
1/4 terminal etc........
hope this helps!!!!!

Just back, really good fun day out.

Lots of delays and hold ups though (really icy this morning, plus a couple of accidents)

Anyway I won (eventually), but it so much closer than I thought it would be.

On the first couple of runs neither of could get any power down at the start (my wheels were spinning in 2nd gear, for christ sake)!

Final run I figured out a way of getting off the line, and posted a 14.8 (93mph)

The thing that surprised me the most though was that the Cupra consistantly had higher terminal speeds than me.

My car seemed to be fairly gutless past 80mph... is this normal?

Anywho a really good day out, can't wait for the next one.

His higher terminal times would indicate he would beat you from a rolling start.

Default the pod

Your time and speed is alittle down, but the track and conditions are not up to it, your speed seems quite slow, i went last week and could not get going but posted a 13.6 and 108 mph, my car is capable of a 13.00 i lost 0.6 in the first 60 ft, compared to in the summer but my terminal speed was about right, i bet you could get your et down to the low 14's all wrx non stis seem to suffer at the last halve of the track

I was really surprised by the Cupra...should it be quicker than me at higher speeds, or do I need to get me car checked out??

naah there is nothin wrong with ur car.... if yours and the cupra's bhp (@ flywheel) was exactly the same, from a rolling start the cupra would win as less power is lost thru the transmision, nothin to worry about mate.

well i dont know exact figures, but somebody on here would.... but your 250@ fly would most likely work out at less than 200 at the wheels, whereas your friends 210@ fly may work out at 200 at the wheels...

therefore he is getting more power down onto the road.

Well done Martin.

Agree that his higher terminals must be related to power at the wheels (your transmission losses) and the fact that the Cupra is a bit lighter.

How did you end up launching it in the end given the slippy surface?

Default lose

I think that 2wd lose is 18% and 4wd is 24% roughly, by the way what was your 60 ft time

With difficulty!

Seriously though, 3k rpm ease the clutch in ease the throttle on 60ft time of 2.18 secs, which alot better than my previous attempts

With regards to terminals worth noting that if your mate took longer to run the 1/4 he had longer to reach a higher top speed. Or maybe you were changing too early or changing too late and not getting the most from your car? Id say you are putting more power to the tarmac aswell, even if you factor in higher losses for a 4wd car you still have more grunt. Besides its all voodoo maths anyway - what time did the cupra run?

These approxomations vary so much between cars they dont mean much in my opinion, but its a well perpetuated idea. Lots of people agree with the above so I won't try and look stupid by saying they are all wrong... but im sure theres a lot more too it than that.

Not sure what gear you'd be in crossing the line but maybe he was just in a better part of the power band. I assume you were both in 4th, maybe his pick up was a bit better.

I was really shocked first time up, believing all the guff about the Scooby's legendary traction, I went for a full on launch, only to have to back off in a big way, as the back threatened to swap ends with the front!!

You cannotbelieve how greasy it is, you can get way better launchs on the road than at the legendary pod, glad to see you having a go though
