I paid nearly 13k brand new for it , 4 months later we split up. She kept the car, I kept the kettle
Can anyone beat that for depreciation??

2002 BMW 330i 'sport' touring auto ....... great looking in dark blue, good acceleration for an auto - but suspension soooooo hard you jumped lanes when you touched a bit of uneven road.
The only car I have had that has ever frightened me with it's handling ! It was that bad ...... If I had the normal one and not the 'sport' I would probably still have it.

MK4 astra Gsi...not a bad car all round, I was just kidding myself that i'd be happy with it when really I wanted a scoob.
Sold after 9 months and got the scoob. Best decision I've ever made.

Although I put it in the 'regretted selling' post as well.....
That Range Rover with the 3.5 V8 goes on this list as well. I bought it really as an impulse, when I didn't really have enough money, and convinced myself that I'd be able to afford it - Ran on LPG, insurance was a lot less than the Impreza (1.8GL), and servicing was far less.
However, when I discovered it was doing 12-14mpg even on a long run and was lacking in power, I got someone to look into it, and found there was almost no compression on 2 cylinders - piston rings and pistons were shot, so it was only running on 6, and fairly rough at that. 800 odd quid later, I sold it. Took the first offer, as I just wanted rid of the thing before it cost me any more
That said, If I'd put it into storage for a few years , it would be bloody useful just now, and I kinda wish I'd kept it. Very good condition apart from that problem

Hmmm, good thread.
A 996 C4. It was brittle, had an extremly poor quality interior and depreciated like a stone just as the 997 came out.
Great handling ofcourse, but there are more practical cars out with comparable handling.

Actually, I forgot to add: a further reason I regretted the car is that I got the tip.

I dont know how to say this but i once bought a Nissan Serena 2.3D
Without a doubt the worst, slowest and headache inducing on a long journey MPV in the entire history of MPV's.
Needless to say i sold it within a month of buying and bought myself a galaxy

That Opel.......for the love of god why ??, it was yellow !!! However it was also rwd, which was a great learning experience for a spotty 17 year old. I'm sure it spend more time on opposite lock than it ever did going straight on
The MG metro, Hmmmm no excuses here, all I can say it that at the time I bought it I couldn't afford the Mk1 xR2 which followed shortly after.
Those were the days......

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who regretted buying a Corrado. Mine was a VR6 and in got recovered by the RAC 3 times in the year I had it. Dreadfully unreliable.
Under sodium light it was 2 shades of red. How did I manage to miss THAT.
On the rare occasions it was working it was nice to drive, but I never could really enjoy it 'cos of the two tone red and the unreliability.
Chopped it for a new Saxo VTS. 3 years economical trouble free motoring

Fiat 132 2.0 Twin Cam. I bought it as a "project", aim was to have an interesting road rally car, those engines were tunable to 200hp with the right bits.
Had been stripped out ready to go grasstracking, so I thought all I had to do was bolt the seats back in and I was away. Unfortunately the wiring loom had been ripped out of it and I was naive in thinking I had the skills (or tools or anything really) to put it back on the road again. After standing on the road outside my student house for about 12 months I finally managed to get my money back as someone gave me 50 quid and towed it away. I was sooooo glad to see it go.

Celica ST205 -
Was great in a straight line apart from being difficult to get into third gear! Would grip and grip but felt cumbersome and un-inspiring in the corners. The bodywork was awful, dings all over evidence of accident damage i really can't understand why i bought it.
It was reliable however and only lost 200 quid on it in the 6 months of ownership.
106 GTi -
Was fun to drive but felt like i was inside a tin can, spent 300 quid on driveshafts. I would never be confident in it starting first time, the sun roof leaked among other things.
I did make a profit on it so can't complain too much, would never own a peugeot car again!

what a great thread
intresting to see cars like the clio 172 in here, I had one prior to my meg 225 and absolutley loved it! Would have another one tomorrow.
My worst(and best) car has to be my old nova 1.3SR I had so many good times with the car I remember it fondly but without the rose tinted glasses on it was a right bag of ****e, had a rusty boot and arches, water pissing out of the block and used to drink fuel like crazy. Sold it for £800 as a "barley runner" a guy came up on a coach from southampton (I met him in SHEFFIELD!) I alsmost cried when he drove it away but I was relieved to see all my problems dissapear down the m1!

Nissan 200sx s13, just a knightmare had it for 10 months, discovered the engine was fooked after 3 months and it was starting to go wrong (FSH aswell), handling i thought was terrible in the wet, fuel ecconomy was out of this world too even when driven lightly... So he had to go, shame as it was a pretty thing and made lots of noise....lol

MY05 Subaru Impreza STI PPP.
I want to sell it, but can't. Unless I take a hit of nearly half price in just 10 months.
Should have kept the Focus RS.

However, bought an Elise which I should be able to sell for more than I paid for it.
