What car have you regretted buying?

Really suprised by some of the cars getting a pasting on this excellent thread !
Worst car I've owned was my first, a pea green Astra SR. It was all rubber spoilers, webber carb, k&n and recaro, I thought I was the dogs nuts when I got it. Then a wheel fell off, engine nearly fell out, phone cable used for some electrics, sunroof leaked, ect ect. It was so rotten I put in on axle stands once and then couldn't find a good part on the seal to get it off the stands, had to push it off them Guy who bought it couldn't be bothered to look under neath it as it was raining, I bet he had a shock when he did

It was obviously my choice about selling back to trade rather than private sale. but I just couldn't face the test pilots coming for a drive of an R500, which at the time was quite rare (mine was No 48)
Also Caterham had a 2nd hand elise 160 sport which I bought as part of the sell back deal, another great car, but boy did it feel slow after the R500 !!

In all honesty....
The Scoob ('98 R Impreza wagon).
Not that I totaly regret buying any of the cars I have had but if I had to pick one it would be the Scoob.
Wasn't unreliable or anything perhaps I just had it at the wrong time but it just ended up a car I could do without. In fact the stop-gap car I had after it (a '90 Merc 190E) was in my eyes a better car.
Each to their own.

A new Citroen
Buying experience was less special than when I buy a mars bar at the newsagent. Turned up at dealers and he just mumbled that car was outside.
Numerous faults that they newer wanted to fix.
I would NEVER buy another Citroen even if they sold new ones for 50p.

Worst car I bought was without a doubt a Rover 220GTi. Bought with 13K on the clock.
Was initially quote good then had a tiny gasket fail on the M1 whihc ended up needing an engine rebuild as the head had warped. After this I had more rebuilds and the electics went haywire. I had 13 alternators in a year and broke down at least once a week sometimes twice a day. Dealers were appalling with an amazing lack of knowledge.

I regretted buying the Evo, fantastic car, however it is the most expensive car in the world to run. I regret selling the 03 Sti I had at the time to fund it. Just take a look on the MLR and see the for sale section. no one can slag off Subaru residuals after reading that.

My G plate XR3i, fully RS turbo kitted, plenty of 'extras', but very quickly i discovered it was a **** heap and kept it 6 months before i got rid of it (had been well boy racered up)
Sold it for £200 more than i paid for it and the MOT ran out that day!
It paved the way for my beautiful mint, original, low mileage Escort turbo though

both the uk my99 subarus i had,
first one handled ****e , was 300bhp and fast couldnt doubt that, but fuel consumption was shocking, as is servicing and parts
put it in a ditch due to a bloody deer, bought another one 275bhp this time and regretted it straight away, handled alot better due to the droplinks, anti lift kit etc but drank fuel, and cost a bomb to maintain
regret selling , well only car ive ever regretted selling is my r5 gt turbo , sold after 5 years to go into subaru ownership, BIG mistake

I regret buying:
White Cortina : First car that ended it's life 10yds from an oil spill, buried up to its dash in a lamp post.
White Cav SRI-130 : Used by a magoo driver as break assistance while I was waiting to turn.
White Mondeo Estate : company car (left company due to this car), got t-boned by a truck, luckily while I wasn't in it.
I now drive a BLACK car and won't even go in a white one as a passenger...

I regret buying my Ignis sport (wanted something small and fairly nippy, with decent fuel consumption) - fell for dealer lies about "Special prices".. Car itself is fine, my only real compaint is a run of bad luck in it and crashy suspension - Oh, and losing 4k in 10 months in depreciation.
My MK2 Golf 1.3 was a bit of a dog too - sloooow, unreliable, but did handle quite well.
We shall see what MX5 ownership brings next weekend.

i'd say my old MY99 UK Impreza but only cos of the money i lost on it which was £12k in 3 years and the very poor fuel consumption, i covered 50k mileage in the time i had it and i hate to think what the fuel bill alone cost me!!

1992 Corrado G60. I had heard so much hype about how good these were - but wasn't - fortunes to fix (Supercharger - £1500 re-con), wasn't really that quick, average brakes, and used more fuel than a Scooby. It did handle not too bad though. When I got shot of it to a muppet (I think it was Gonzo), I was like this

1963 Land Rover with Rover V8 in it - complete impulse buy, soft top, sports seats, 0-60 faster than most, failed to notice windscreen wipers did not work etc, etc, etc how it had an MOT I will never know, sold it 6 months later for 75% loss

You know its a bad car when you are thinking of how to get rid of it, hmmm, burn it, leave it in an inner city pretending its been nicked, come back to a shell, burn it etc.
Of course, I couldnt do it but that Fiat Coupe got me thinking like that, used to make me go into cold sweats just thinking about explaining that the engine/turbo or something was fooked to the missus. Sold it to a lad off the forum, he diagnosed the turbo by leaving it running, it blew out loads of smoke, he bought it and changed the turbo, the engine then went, to his credit he rebuilt it himself the mad fool !

Regret buying it because
a) it was bloody expensive
b) engine reliability (early cars)
Regret selling it because
a) it was about the most fun I've had with my trousers on
b) it lost a load of money in a very short time
c) because I still want that kind of performance kick.
