'If i dont like you'??????? You are irrelevant. But this is a forum where you post your views. If no one posted what would be the point. Replying to your nonsense is still better than working and I have to do something as i sit here if i want to get paid.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. But surely to listen to an uneducated opinion fron someone who has probably not seen one on the road nevermind driven one is foolish. It would be like me saying the Enzo is better than the Bugatti (you would be making a decision that was not based in experience)

Dont apologise to me fella ..... I like it here, almost live here

Its only an internet forum, not real life.

If you get the I wouldn't buy one no matter how good it was because its a Vauxhall comment too often ..... just remind people that Subaru originally made pick up trucks for farmers

You dont have to stand up for your bum chum. Im sure he can look after himself. You are right though. You should have kept your mouth shut. Not about stating that you feel that the VXR is better though but about everything you said after that. If you cant handle someone else having a different opinion dont come on here. I actually stated that i thought the VXR probably was good at the start of this and other similar threads but after reading your recent posts ive certainly changed my mind about their drivers.

Sorry. I didnt realise you dont work. Have you tried one of the local supermarkets?? I believe they have to fulfill quotas by hiring a certain number of retards. Worth a go if nothing else. Good luck anyway.

Lol has some spotty oink hijacked their dads SN account? Must admit its made me chuckle

Back on track - saw a VXR in the flesh when at local vaux garage with the mrs (has old shape convertible). Must admit was pretty impressive. Looks very mean up close and very solid. Nice seats too. Only thing that let it down was the rest of the interior. Not many cars Id but in red

Bet there will be some great 2nd hand buys in 12 months time although as someone else said the new CTR has gotta be worth a butchers if they do something with the styling.

Simon.

Running costs are not that bad. 280 miles to the tank driving normal if you push a little like the wrx. Insurance loads cheaper. Also services only every 20k so that will be cheaper

Who said anything above 200BHP throught the front wheels is useless. What utter b#llock's.

I now drive a SAAB 9-3ss Aero with 237+ BHP and FWD and it has no problems at all with traction, it will eat standard WRX Imprezas and still return 32 MPG.

It will destroy a standard WRX, how do i know, because i sold my MY01 for the SAAB. I have also driven the new Focus ST and it will also destroy a WRX and give an STI something to think about + it sounds like it should with the twin rear pipes.

Have seen the VXR in the showroom but never driven it, i have been in the Zafira VXR and that was amazing for a people carrier.I can imagine the smaller Astra goes like stink.

Gutman you and i both know there are some serious a#ses on this board who falsley believe the performance world begins and ends with the Subaru Impreza, long live the members who say it how it is.

Well nice to see a started a good thread

Did I have a motive, well yes and no. Wanted to see what the Scooby boys and girls thought and see how much of the press bias has come through.

A few people know me or have even been unlucky enough to meet me. Those that have know Ive owned 9 odd Scoobies. On the hot hatch front, recent ones have been a Fab VRS (AMD modded), 182 with Cup Packs, MKIV R32, S3, LCR and MKVGTI. Plus a couple of other exotica at other times.

I do have a VXR parked outside now and have to say its one of the best cars Ive ever owned. It reminds me of the day I first drove a Scooby, my brand new Terzo and when I got a P1.

Cars need to be fun, sure the GTI is a great car, but dull IMHO, the 182 will outhandle the VXR, but it needs more poke/a turbo.

For those looking to change, go try. Yes you will be faster out of the box in your WRX/STI but if you want something to grow into, the VXR might be up your street.

Clarkson didnt drive a VXR with the VXR suspension, so please dont go on his opinion. It could do with more headroom and parking sensor as std, but not much else.

I wouldnt say it was better than a Scooby. In 99% of road conditions, it would not struggle to stay with most Scooby's. I love them both
Jonathan

H'e been on here about 6 weeks and everytime I see one of his posts it's always the same:

Slag someone off, gets plumbed with a reply then claims he's been misunderstood & only having a laugh, gets all defensive and then personal..!

Have a look at how many of his contributions to this forum follow the above format...!

Still makes me smile at how much effort he puts into his replys..

Clarkson cant drive anyway so his thoughts are irrelevant. He's also an arogant ****.

In all probability the majority of us wouldnt notice a great deal of difference between similar cars on a fav back road run. One is out of the rev range on one corner, the other on the next. One a little quicker here the other there.

Its more about the entertainment value and how the car makes you feel. I loved my 172 clio, to a certain extent wish I hadn't sold it. Before that I adored my TVR, made me smile everytime I turned the key in the garage.

Its no secret I love my 205 either.

My scoob still does it for me but if someone came to me with a good deal on a VXR or ST focus or Golf GTi for that matter I would be giving it some serious thought.

One day I will detail all the things I hate about scoobs and scoob ownership, then I can be rightly accused of slagging them off

Saw an Astra and Monaro VXR in the local garage, they don't look bad, astra a bit boyracerish maybe (still a billion times better than any subaru)
One thing that would seriously worry me about a Vauxhall is the reliability. My other half has one, it's 3 months old and has been back 5 times with varying problems. It could just be a duff car, but what makes it worse is that the Vauxhall dealer network is truly truly shocking.

http://http://astra-sri.co.uk/forums...ead.php?t=5946

It does seem they are the fastest car going

Mine seems well built. The alarms have had some problems, but it seems like they are getting on top of that. Build wise, its solid, weighs more than the Golf and those doors weigh more than the whole slimming club on Little Britain.

Yawn. Not you again. Just a pity your comments dont apply to anything posted on this thread, never mind though.

As posted several times, i agree that the VXR probably is quicker than the WRX in certain conditions but someone also pointed out in this thread i think that they paid 21k for it. Seems a bit much for what you get especially when they made comparisons to a WRX which this person claimed was available for 17k. Astra worth 4k more?????? Doubt it. I didnt create these figures one of your fellow VWR owners posted them but to be honest I dont think its worth anything like that.

If you read the post again, I said that without the discount it would have been 21k i paid 18k, and now its not the performance your arguing against its the price??? The standard VXR is 19k but with extras you could get it well above 22K, not made up figures check it out. And standard you are getting more than you get in a standard wrx. (shocker)
