agree with corrado vr6, have you considered the g60 corrado or golf surprisingly quick, or even a toyota celica gt4?

Another vote here for the 106 GTi.

But if the wee 106 is to small for you, then my vote would be Nissan Skyline R33 GTS .

I did

Like the 200SX, great car for the money but looks wise they are a bit big and barge like.

MR2 still looks fresh, and the Mk2 95 model I had was the best car i've owned reliability wise, and it had 103k miles on it, but drove like new.

Eh ... 306gti was one of the best cars around in it's day, great handling + 167bhp (big power for a hot hatch back then). I also owned one + thought that it was fantastic. Rallye probably better as slightly less weight (lbs) + much less cost (£'s) ...

TX.

SX is a band for buck thing though. Not alot comes close to it in terms of what you get for your money in regards to spec/age/mileage - I had this exact choice only 6 months ago, spent ages comparing all these sorts of cars! Its only the same weight as a classic scoob (so not really that heavy) or there abouts, cheap as chips to tune and bulletproof pretty much. MR2 is still a great car, but to get one that will keep up with an SX means you need a turbo version (import only) and it will be at least 5 years older than the SX..........

Best advice I can give you though - theres been some good suggestions on this thread, so go and try and few out and buy what you like

A friend has a really clean White Rev 3 MR2 Turbo with Rays Wheels... but he's a 4WD fanatic so he's thinking about selling already. The MR2 is a great car though, looks fantastic sounds good and is really quick despite being pretty much standard.

Cheers,
Grant

Not that I like to disagree with you (), but my old MR2 NA model had approx 180bhp and would easily stay with a 200SX. Having driven both I would say there isnt much in it speed wise.

I like both, so as you say worth testing either.

LOL

Stock yeah, prob not much. But would it keep up with my 200SX @ 270bhp that cost just over 500 quid to achieve - £500 on the "2" wouldn't get it anywhere near that. Turbo power Yeeeeeeehaaaaar LMAO!

Oh and sorrento is still best

Seconds out..... (hehehehe)

He did say at the start it had to be unmodified. Saying it won't beat my modified one is pointless. You can't compare modified/unmodified.

Saying that I would have to agree with turbo power and still go for the 200 as I'm not keen on the mr2's looks. Plus you get rear seats in a 200. Yes, they are bigger but still are a lot of fun.

Personal thing but isn't the mr2 a bit girly in the same way that an mx5 is probably one of the best handling sports convertables out there, but would you want to own one?

It looks like the 200sx might be the one for me... the search for the perfect low milage manual s14a begins.

On a side note, which one do you think the ladies would like the most

Depends what their view on cars is. Mine likes cars and driving so has similar views to me. She takes the **** out of a lad with an mr2 saying its a hairdresser's car etc. etc.

I guess some women like them and some don't. On the other hand some women won't care as they think owning a fast car means you are trying to compensate for something.

You pays you money........

Hi mate.
It just so happens that i am selling my Lancer Evo II.
I cant really afford to run that and my STI so the EVO has to go.
I am going to clean it up tomorrow and place some pics in general for sale.
As for the car, it is seriously quick, i dont expect top top money for it either. You WILL get change out of your 4000 to buy bits for it.
Its totally standard apart from an exhaust but i have the standard one so you can have both.
Performance is very similar to the classic STI i own.
Brakes are LOADS better, handling seems better and recaro interior is great.
Water spray, boost guage, volt meter, and oil temp all as standard and i believe it puts out around 260 BHP.
Out of all the cars mentioned i think this would be the best performer, and value for money.
If your interested PM me mate.

Yeah but how much older would the MR2 turbo be Looked at them and the GT4, both more likely to be 1994, max 95 cars, where I got a 1999 SX for only a fraction more cash (few hundred!) Mate has a Rev 3 though, pokey wee git it is

Ah you did have some taste back in the day

No rear seats is a bonus, especially at family parties where people ask for lifts - sorry, we only have 2 seats

As for worrying about a cars image, i'll leave that to the shallow people, a good car is a good car end of

Depends. My mrs likes sporty cars over performance/driving machines, hence she dislikes my 205 GTI, and doesnt really like Scoobs, but she loved our old MR2 and wouldn't entertain a 200SX.

Neil - MR2T can be had as a 99 vintage, surely the extra money that you have to pay for it is for a reason, cars aren't cheap for no reason
