Real Impreza's are WHITE

Just worked out how to afford a 6 speeder.
Remembered I've a fully rebuilt 4 speed 911 box.diff with a magnesium case (rare as hen's teeth) that has been sitting on the edge of my garage since...1996...about a £1500 worth.
Then there is the Lambretta...
Too bored.

Graham, thats a good start towards a proper built 5mt gearbox, 30kgs less and one less shift you know it makes sense
BTW your quite welcome to have a go in mine with the ppg box when its built if you need help making up your mind.

Dan.

Easy to find the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for a 2.33 and Zen box and a few other tweeks, sell this:

But wife and daughter won't hear of it after owning it since 1988.

Clean forgot about the spare box, always kept it as a fall-back for the car when I was hillclimbing it,; seems pointless now.
A Zen box is about £3K when all done, and thanks for the offer Dan!

When I've had enough of the Sti that should be the car to sell (I'm told..)

Graham.

David and AndyF's right, not a chat thread. Sorry from me.

Is there a lot of weight to be lost from the subframes as there sort of are part of the chassis?
Graham.

I can remember seeing some for sale at a Prodrive clearance sale 3 years ago, REALY light, but as a DIY approach not too hard to convert the accuracy as the existing subframes would be good jigs...!
Certainly, the rear diff cage is horrendously heavy, while the front is probably acceptable.

Guess you could use roll cage tube effectivly and safely.

Are you progressing or is it too cold your way for everything to work, ie primer to flash off etc?
This could be a good time to stretch the arches for 8'' rims?

Graham.

Graham, those subframes you saw were they tubular? If so they are for the WRC cars, and require their rather special suspension components too...but they do move the engine down and back a bit in the chassis too

Yes, all tube and painted 'rally white' but so light. Nearly bought them to put on the wall as a sculpture.
Don't Spec C's have a tube subframe up front?
Really the rear has the greater weight, but any tube frame would need to be very well put together for a road car, but for a racer?
Bet David can't resist.

Like I said not giving everything away havent got that far yet!

The Front end is allready giving me ideas.. I meant to speak to andy and ask him what offset he had to run on the Mikey Thompsons or Hoosiers.. and how much clearance there was.. I may open the arches out inwards slightly anyway

Meant to say been making a new bootlid at my mates workshop and no its not too cold in his workshop...with a 170,000ish btu heater or 55kw iirc in somewhere smaller than my garage (partitioned off) Warm! - Uncomfortably warm

My Garage is too cold with this weather, but wont be in there until the weekend now.. And if you feel the cold then your being lazy

David, I have 8x17" rims on my car, all that was required was to roll the arches a little.
