Im quite surprised at their stance on this issue. My ol' man has an 03 plate ST170 from NEW and any issue that has occured with the car mainly electrical has been dealt with promptly. bearin in mind it only has 13K on the clock!

If your car is still under warranty then the fact that you have had it only for a few months is alittle concerning. DONT give up this fight it surely is a WIN WIN WIN as far as u are concerned.

Get them in the papers mate, that'll sort it

GOOD LUCK nonetheless

I can't say how it was treated for the first 4500 miles but since, it has just been a car for back and to work in busy traffic as my missis is off work following having a baby. I have an STi that I use for satisfaction at the weekends.

I intend to kick up as much stink as possible. They are taking the ****. They **** my missus up as they basically told her the car isn't safe and we have been carrying our new born baby round in it. She was near to tears when she rung me up from the garage when it was in. How can a car that was sold 4 months ago having RAC inspection through a reputable manufacture/dealer be un safe and then not be their fault or problem ?

Don't bother griefing Ford CRC too much, the dealer is the one you should be concentrating on, they are solely responsible for supplying the car and your contract for sale is with them. Ford themselves have little or no obligation to help you, the responsibility lies with the dealer.

For what it's worth my father had a V6 mondeo with exactly the same problem (ford direct vehicle stood in a compound and the discs corroded badly), it was taken back under complaint almost immediately and the dealer fitted new discs under warranty straight away, no messing about.

I really can't understand what the problem is, all the dealer has to do is shove in a warranty claim which states the discs have a manufacturing fault, and they get paid full whack for the work. The stealer network really does give FMC a bad name at times.

Your complaint should be direct with the supplying dealer, Ford are unlikely to help you with this.

A quick letter stating your rights under the sale of good act will do the trick. Send me a PM if you want a copy of the one I sent to Sky, asking for a replacement Sky+ box out of warranty......3 days later the new one was installed at no cost

I have had a good look at the breaks today. Even more alarming is the fact that the garage reckon it needs new discs and pads all round. There is f*ck all wrong with the front ones, but the back ones are knackered. Looks like thay were trying to rip my Missus off. I am persuing the situation on the basis that Ford have supplied my pregnant missus with an unsafe car. If the problem is due to corrosion, why aren't the front brakes the same as the back ones. Looks more like defective material to me. I have typed a letter out already, but will hold back now until the car has been back to the dealer we bought it from.

Dad had the same problem on his, took it into the dealer the day after he got it, not the one he bought it from as he bought it through ford direct.

Same problem and after they fixed it tried to charge him, but after a bit of a talking to they didnt charge for the replacements.

However the car was only in his possession for 1 day at that time.

Godd news guys.

My missus took the car back to where we bought it. They had a look at the brakes and took on board the vibration issue on the accelerator. Thay are replacing the brakes and accelerator cable under warranty.

A big thankyou to Bramhall ford in Saltney and a f*ck off to Warrington Polar Ford and Fords customer service department. The Ford network has proven to me that it isn't a network at all but a fragmented group of individual garages who don't give a f*ck about customer service. Their blinkered vision in trying to rip off pregnant women and such like is probably reducing the sales potential of their cars. I like our ST170 apart from the problems we have had, but feel totally dissapointed in the Ford name as a result of our arguments.

Again, I want to thank Bramhall Ford in Saltney for their customer service and recommend anyone looking to buy a Ford around the Chester area to try them. They have demonstrated excellent back up service to a sale and that is what counts when you have spent £13500.

I'm glad you got it sorted!

Just one point though, if it was actually storage that caused the corrosion, which I can well believe having worked in dealerships, Ford CS are perfectly within their rights to not pay out and quite rightly I feel.

It's not a fault of the car, it's design, materials or how it was put together, it's just one of those things. The only way anyone other than the seller can fix it is to either bill you or put a fraudulent claim in to Ford. If your dealer is claiming under warranty from Ford they're no doubt trying it on when in fact, they should just stand it out of their own pocket.

I can understand your frustration, especially after the trouble I had when I bought my Fiesta but I feel your anger towards Ford itself is misplaced.

Just my view

Glad you got it sorted Woody1.

The last thing you probably needed was the agro and expense this time of year. Goes to show that not all dealers are bar stools!!

Yeh, new baby in the house, and Christmas, just don't need it. Still hopefully sorted early January.

Cheers
