Gonna have a crack at being at LFE for 8:30. Finally get to join a scoob convoy in my own scoob. Unless I bring the cav and run it down the strip at the pod to increase its value )

Midlands lads.
Cem (Blowdog) will NOT be coming to LFE.
He will meet me at J15a at 9am, and we'll wait for you there.

dmel.
See above, 9.30's too late.

Stef.

Guys,

Just a final update before BEER!

Dodge the shower time tomorrow me thinks. Still worth going though.

Confirm 8.30am at LFE Services southbound on M1, convoy will depart at 8.45am to allow for stragglers (MikeT LOL - glad you can make it mate)

DON'T FORGET YOUR LICENCES IF YOU INTEND TO RUN! + YOUR £10 and £8 entry.

Stef/Cem will meet you at J15a M1 9.00-9.30am.

Cheers
Chris

All,

Just checked up on the latest model output at the Met. Office (my internal source, not that tosh on the BBC website). Looks as though this rain band should clear Spod by around 4a.m. Sunday morning. After that, it will remain cloudy for most of the morning. With fairly high dewpoints, unlikely that it will be super dry by 10 a.m., but I guess they will dry the strip as usual.

Afternoon should be brighter, but with that, chance of showers.

Think the plan would be to get there early/on time and be ready to run the moment the strip opens (hopefully at 10 a.m.)

There again, I could be wrong.....

Cheers

guys, i hate to say this but i am not gonna be there!!

Just got back in, set off at 7.15, got about 10 miles away from home and a load of steam started coming out of my bonnet.

Sadly, the stainless steel water pipe that exits the turbo bearing has cracked and is pissing water out onto the turbo. There is nothing i can do about it except fit a new pipe. Its a special with a big banjo on it and is a ford special. Basicaly i am fu**ed.

I think the vibrations from the engine mount failure at snet has caused this, didnt show up last night when checking the car over.

I am absolutely gutted, and before you say it harj, no i did not chicken out!

I will bring the knackered part to cadwell if you like.

On another note, my new tyres are scary in the wet. Not recomended for monsoon regions.

Bloody cossie reliability

Wet day, had to leave at noonish, bah humbug! Has a good few scoobs there today - organisers askes for volunteers to help dry the track by cruising SLOWLY up and down. Needless to say it turned into a Scooby parade. Of course then one of our number got kicked off, and Harj had had a severe dressing down by a steward. Too much getting it sideways on the strip - who said our cars had good grip? We all left the strip at that point and no-one was left to dry the track (serves em rite!) .
I got a few photos with the digital camera - Harj setting a new personal best at the pod, a P1 and a 22B nose to nose, then a P1 in the 22B's rear view mirror where it belongs . I've no website, but if anyone wants the files give me a shout.
Who would have thought that Junction 15a would prove so hard for so many to find?
Hightlight of the day, stalling my car twice when I left - damn impressive!
Cheers
Charles

John F:
Sorry you couldn't make it. Glad it was only 10 miles rather than 100 miles away. Sounds like exactly the same part that went on mine (GT4) earlier in the week, number 1 turbo water feed.

Chuckster:
Very impressed with your "launch" on the way out

Akira:
Is now know as Mr. Lock-To-Lock for his impressive sideways action on the strip (how slippy ??)

Harj:
Top run mate, that'll do... (also told off for being a bad boy and getting it slightly sideways

Everyone else....

plus, Mike Tuckshop ( ), glad to meet you at last, the Type R = V.nice.

Cheers

I'll put my hand up to being the green one !

Things were way too slippy out there for me, I got it squiffy a few times (as did most people) and figured I'd make my exit to the pits!

well, my wife now thinks that all Scooby drivers are deaf or thick!! She's sure the guy said to take it easy on the wet track as its as slippery as an ice rink, especially after it was treated the day before for the real drag racers.

I personally just saw some silver Scoob do a sudden lane change then change his mind, and then reverse back up the track a bit.

I was there until noon and it looked like it might dry out nicely. How much racing did they allow as if it was only a couple of hours in the afternoon then Im going to try for a bit of a refund.

Good 3/4 of a day out then got pangs of guilt about leaving wife and child at home (sourob and marcos - I think you passed the guilt onto me!)

Went home just after that monster went "bang" and then they had to clean up the bits.

Harj, only saw your first (damned quick) run. What was your best?

Votes for "most completely hatstand vehicle/driver"?

Most hatstand vehicle: Hmm. that must go to the 10 year old in the 1/4 size dragster with lawnmower engine. Think he was timed at abt 45 seconds at a whopping 39mph!!

Else the flaming go-cart 11.55 secs @ 114.92 mph. That must have been seriously terrifying!

Managed to arrive when R19KET and the boys were leaving for lunch just before the track dried out and left when they came back. Got some decent waves in at least!

Suresh

P.S. Edited to insert: the purple Fiat 126 or 127 funny car thingy with monster V8. Think he did mid 11s, but best bit was him rumbling thru the pits / car park setting off all the car alarms. LOL.

Thumbs up

That 'flaming go-cart' also ran a first run of 10.9.

Hat's off to the Scooby Performers

1) Chris (Akira) for the most fun I had all day! Scooby's on ice.

2) Harj, top time well done.

3) Chuckster, what can I say double fault, (new ***** please)

4) Top fuel thingy...... WOW, How loud!!! 6.02 and TS of 227MPH. You have to be there!

Great day must be brilliant in summer.

Mike.

Ian,

lol, 3 guesses to who was leading those cars =)

Green was me, Blue was Baije and Silver was Alex. We took a detour via Dunstable to pick up a friend of mine

That area is a regular haunt for me and fellow scoobs, roads are fantastic (especially the fjord) and are mostly quite empty. The road from Markyate to Hemel Hempstead is just fantastic.
You should play catch-up next time, we always manage to have a fantastic time and generally use up 2 tankfulls on one of those days
Cem

Hmm, just realised I used the word 'fantastic' 3 times

Nice to see you guys if only for a moment.-Silver STI 2 As a Dunstable native I have to agree we do have some great roads around us, many as yet free from cameras. However beware The A5 has started sprouting them on the hill up into Dunstable South bound and leaving Dunstable. Also watch out for dark blue un-marked Omegas one often follows me all the way to Milton Keynes.....Spoil sport!
Cheers! Ross
