Akira 13 May 2000 07:46 PM

All Midlands folk going to the Pod next Sunday 21/5. I propose a meeting up at Leicester Forest East Services southbound on the M1. I personally want to get to the Pod for about 9.30am to get some runs in before the masses turn up. RSOC and Supra OC are going for sure, so by 11am it will be packed. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

I suggest meeting at LFE Services at 8.30am http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif with a depart time of 8.45am no later.

All mad barstewards wanting to Convoy please post here. C'mon Jase, IanG, MikeT, Chrisp etc etc, you can do it guys! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Stef, wanna meet up as we did before on the A45 and enter the Pod in stylee.
It's not that we got lost last time or anything like that. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif LOL.

Cheers
Chris

Chris

Would love to attend, and join the convoy, but have wedding to attend the day previous. Damn unthoughtful if you ask me! Santa Pod to be missed due to Stella intake the night before, and VILLA at Wembley on the day of the wedding. Bah Humbug..... I hate weddings......

Oh Well will have to prove it at Powerstation the week after.... LOL

Have Fun

Paul

chrisp 14 May 2000 02:40 PM

Hopefully going down to SPod on the 21st I dont know about 8.30am on a Sunday http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif.

Probably meet you there, it may be a last minute thing to make LFE depending on Saturday night http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif.

Cheers

chrisp

harj 14 May 2000 03:55 PM

Harj...

Count me in chrisy boy http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Ian

Stef 15 May 2000 12:55 AM

Unfortunately, due to 'CK1' requiring a heart transplant, I will not be able to run on this day. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
I will keep you all informed when I know more though....

Stef.

johnfelstead 16 May 2000 02:50 PM

i will be going with the westie. I wanna know what it does in a straight line, even if its crap round the corners at the mo (or is it just my crap driving) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

where is the spod anyway?

Stef 16 May 2000 05:01 PM

No John, it's just your crap driving! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
I don't thin there's much shame in being slower round corners than a 4WD car on slicks though!
Chill..... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Stef.

IWatkins 16 May 2000 06:36 PM

Hopefully some us GT4 lot will be there, to keep you guys amused http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I plan to get there very early but unlikely to run unless a turbo water line arrives before then (from Toyota) as it is in danger of going pop very soon.....

Cheers

Ian

johnfelstead 16 May 2000 06:41 PM

ian, just stick a bit of hose pipe on it and get your but there.

Stef, sitting in a bath of ice water mate, me blood was boiling a bit too much me thinks http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

IWatkins 16 May 2000 07:12 PM

John

I'll be there (as always), whether I run or not is a different matter. Of course, we are talking Toyota here, so a bit of hose usually doesn't work :-) Almost always needs a 'special' widget to keep the thing on etc.

Likely I'll do a few runs anyway http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif (Usual 15.2's, yawn).

It will be interesting to see the Westie at Spod, fresh problem of launch traction for you...

Santa Pod is at:

Sounds groovy to me...think I'll have to call off me Saturday night 'expedition' though http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

jase.

johnfelstead 16 May 2000 08:06 PM

thanks for the map ian.

i am getting my super sticky road legal moulded slicks tomorow so traction should be a massive improvement over the curent yokohama's.

All i have to do now before sunday is fit new engine mounts (the engine is swinging in the breeze under acceleration) and make a new waiste gate actuator mounting braket. Th e bloody thing split in 2 at snett on my last run with mike the rain onboard, thought it lost some power http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

should be getting sub 4 seconds to 60MPH and sub 9 seconds to 100MPH. I will be well miffed if i dont.

dmel 16 May 2000 11:05 PM

I haven't been to Santa Pod before and I want to know if you need to buy (advanced booking?) ticket if you just want to watch. Is there a specific time when the Subaru's are all gathered?
Finally is there drag racing taking place on Sunday?

Dimitris.

Shaun 17 May 2000 12:30 AM

Will JohnF be able to handle Shaun & Harj in person.....it fact is anybody 'ard 'enuff!!!

£8.00 to get in, not £7.50!

Scatman.

johnfelstead 17 May 2000 12:43 AM

probably not shaun, i am a lover not a fighter http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I've got a bloody fast getaway car too http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Suresh 17 May 2000 02:29 AM

Guys, call me a chicken if you must, but I won't be running mine in case expensive repairs subsequently prove necessary. No income and finite funds make this a no-brainer. Nonetheless, I would love to rock up and put some faces to names.

Where is the best place/time to catch up with any / all of you? Are wallflowers allowed into the pits? As you may have guessed, I have not been to the pod before . . .

Suresh

Akira 17 May 2000 11:05 AM

Dimitris & Suresh,

The more Scoobs at the Pod the better! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Cost of entry is £7.50 and it will cost you £10 for unlimited runs on the strip.

All the car clubs usually park up together so just come and find us. You can watch the action from the side of the track or in the Cafe if it's too cold. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

If you can make the Midlands convoy meet point (LFE Services M1 @ 8.30am) that would cool. If not, will catch up with you later in the day.

Chris.

johnfelstead 17 May 2000 12:00 PM

the only drag racing will be stef and harj in there flowery dresses. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Its a run what ya bring day, just turn up

ChrisB 17 May 2000 07:34 PM

Would you believe it?

I'm now working in London this weekend, so can't make it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif.

Ho hum, here's to Cadwell on the 1st June!

Chris.

Steve Gee 18 May 2000 07:26 PM

ChrisP and Chris (Akira)
I'll be there Sunday too, and if I don't break 15 secs this time I'm gonna be Mr. Grumpy, but I AM gonna do it!!
I only live round the corner so I'll be there early and looking forward to some early runs.
See ya there.
Steve

Blow Dog 18 May 2000 10:22 PM

Hey all,
Im gonna try and see how many of us can arrange to meet you at Leicester Forrest East services for 08:30 am.

In order to get to you by that time, we shall be meeting at:

07:30 am M1 J3 Scratchwood Services (Now London Gateway)

08:00 am M1 J11/J12 Toddington services

08:30 / 08:45am J21 Leicester Forrest East

I know this will be cutting it a bit tight, but dont forget that a few peeps may be travelling from South London so be easy http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Make sure you wait for us because we WILL be there.

P.S. Weather is looking real sh1te at the moment, so is there a back up plan if all goes to pot?

Cem

Akira 18 May 2000 10:33 PM

Cem,

Nice one mate! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

We will hang on till about 9am if your making that sort of journey. Dedication - Roy Castle would be proud! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif LOL.

If it's pissing it down in the Morning and looks set in for the day, runs at the Pod maybe a no go http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif. However, if you still wanna make the trip then a blast to a pub is a possible.

Anyone who knows Michael Fish or has any other weather forecasting abilities please post on here your latest for Sunday.

Lets pray for a fresh/cool/sunny morning followed by Mr Sunshine. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

This is looking like being one Pukka Convoy!

Later
Chris

DavidBrown 19 May 2000 12:30 AM

Here's a more localised version:

jase cooper 19 May 2000 03:37 AM

...Er chaps...I dont know if you know but LFE services is actually ON the M1 - half one side half the other - no junction here could complicate stuff!

Cem, do you know its 50 odd miles out of your way? ...or would that be spoiling the fun http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Would J16 @ 9:00-9:30 be better as last meet up point..

jase.

Pub sounds good if rain stops play!

johnfelstead 19 May 2000 11:53 AM

weather forcast is particularily awefull for sunday, unless it improves i wont be going http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

I will keep checking though.

Shaun 19 May 2000 04:25 PM

Looks like its all round Davids for snooker, then!!!

Shaun.

DavidBrown 19 May 2000 05:07 PM

Might not be a bad suggestion !

My driveway has space for 10-12 cars (assuming you park sensibly) and the snooker hall can fit 20-30 (people not cars)

Stef 19 May 2000 07:39 PM

Cem.

I suggest you meet the Midlands convoy in Northampton or something, otherwise it means travelling an extra 35 miles up the M1, only to come back down to N'pton again!
Junction 15a (southbound) would be a good place to meet them.

Stef.

Stef 19 May 2000 07:42 PM

Oh, and snooker takes too long!!!!
I know of a decent pool hall not too far away though, which can hold about 200 people!!!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif (and Shaun's PS2 if he brings it).

Stef.
