How sad.

This was Richard in Corsica 2003, not a great rally for him, and I think he only went on to compete in one other. The stupid grins were due to to comments made between Solberg and Richard and I. I am glad I was able to at least say hello to him!

Unhappy

Really shocked to see this on the news this morning. Richard is one of the reasons I discovered rallying and probably had an influence in me being a scooby nut for over 5 years too. Rally GB in 2003 was my first rally and I was so upset then to hear he'd fallen ill - for it to all end like this is a tradegy.

RIP Richard

It said on the BBC Breakfast program that there will be one on his official site (www.richardburns.com) soon. Also said the family want us to respect their privacy and make donations to cancer charities rather than send flowers.

The sports presenter was a rally fan I think - he seemed genuinely shocked to be giving the news.

Sad to hear this.

He'd proven himself to be a top WRC driver, the only condolence is that at least he'd obtained some of the goals in his life.

RIP Richard.

I recall at the Rally Travel open evening in Salou, Robbie Head and Tony Mason were discussing Richard's situation.I rememeber Robbie saying that it wan't looking too good for him. I believe he and Richard were great mates.

Very sad indeed, my condolences to his family in particular and to all his motorsport 'colleagues'.
