I saw him at rallyday in person and to be honest he didn't look well at all. He had an enormous amount of courage to attend that day considering what the poor guy has gone though and I know for a fact that I couldn't do it and don't have his strength. It was clear to me at rallyday that he would never ever drive a vehicle again let alone a rallycar which is very saddening considering his love of cars and his talent.
If I ever get into that way I wouldn't know what to do and I'm no-where near the man that Richard is. Respect to him whether he's alive or passed away. I hope it's not the latter though.

It was a really sad sight to be honest. I too am a Burns fan and have one of his t-shirts hence why I recognised it was a fan thing.

This has also been posted on the evo magazine forum.
Seems that everyone is still waiting for confirmation, one way or the other.
Hope it isn't true and that it's all just misinformed gossip. Was looking forward to Burnsie's return to WRC.

So sorry to hear this confirmed.
So young, so much talent, and such an ambassador for the sport.
It's a shame that this will hardly even make the 'other news' items following Best's departure.
Not a great year for the sport I love so much.
RIP

Richard Burns loses his battle
BBC News
Such sad news.
Heard rumours of it just after midnight, and stayed up until around 3:30 trying to find a news item to confirm those rumours.
Sadly, Richard Burns died peacefully in his sleep late on Friday evening.
My condolences to his family and friends.
What a crap year 2005 has been for a rally fan.
RIP

Also verified in the link above. A reminder to us all how short life can be at times. Can't believe I actually just saw him at the castle Coombe Rally Day this year - RIP

Richard Burns
Hi All,
I've just read the tragic news that Richard passed away yesterday.
What a terrible year for the WRC. It doesnt seem that long ago, that I was typing another message like this for 'Beef'.
I'm sure all our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time.
RIP Richard

Richard Burns was the sole reason for my interest in rallying, his belief, his passion for the sport and such a gentleman with it of course coupled with his superb talent. He bought joy to myself and im sure to many others through his agressive driving and superb World Rally Champion win. RIP Richard and thankyou for everything you gave us in your short but brilliant life.
