I appreciate the need for a Hi-Def set to view the Hi-Def picture.

But also many of us have LCD PC screens now that don't display resolutions anywhere near the 1080i res PC equivalent, so a Hi-Def picture of 1980x1080 (or what ever it is) will be a tremendous improvement! lol

The Xbox360 is a console as well, a totally different experience to the PC gaming scene.

I personally cant stand PC games and dont really own any (except Caeser 3 ). All the faffing about with settings, upgrades, games that dont work, installing and patching this that and the other, and then not having any decent controllers.

I dont want that hassle, and also dont want to sit in the office in a normal office chair playing games, I just want plug and play and to be sat in front of the fire on a comfy sofa playing my games No patching, installing or anything, just put the CD in and go.

I had a look at the 360 on Saturday in Game and it looked awesome As the developers get used to the games they will get even better, as always happens

I ordered fairly early in the morning (~ 8.20am) on the 18th, so maybe I just sneaked in the first batch. I had originally got an email to say that I wasn't getting one for launch, so came as a surprise.

 

Amazon still saying 1st-2nd for me ........ think I'll need another week to get this farking new router working as it should though

 

Falls over in amazement - seems GamePlay must have quite a few more consoles available. Just had the confirmation email myself

i preordered mine on the 19th and have just got an e-mail to say i wont be getting one. and my new HD tv turned up today.

I believe that some of the larger Asdas/Tesco Extras are doing a midnight sale, first come first served. Could be worth giving your local store a call nearer next Friday to see if they are getting any !

Just been in touch with Play.com about the games. I'd ordered PGR3 & Condemned.
The release date for the 360 is 2/12/05
The release date for the PGR3 (amongst other titles) is 2/12/05

you won't get your game until the following week as it's RELEASED on that date, NOT delivered

Condemned is out on 25/11/05, so plenty of time, but I've just pre-ordered my PGR3 with Game (going to sort out my pre-release pack at lunch!!)

That's why I use Gameplay. They post stuff before the release date so you are ensured of getting it on day of release. Bought loads of stuff from them over the last year or so, and everything has turned up by the relase date, and quite frequently the day before

I never use play.com any more for stuff I want by a specific date. Found them too unreliable.

 

When am I getting mine? When the modchip becomes available.

I doubt the 360 will be as moddable as past consoles, not that it interests me anyway.

 

People said that when the PS2 came out... there'll always be an exploit somewhere, it's just a case of finding it.

 

What's the point other than illegally stealing / using pirate software?

The mod-chips for the old xbox got away with it on the premise that it could be used as a media centre, but the new xbox already has that stuff all built in...

 

Just spoke to a friend who has rung Game in Stockport today to be told that they are only getting 102 units !!!!

 

There lucky, Game in Macclesfield are only getting 30units.....

I spoke to some muppet at Toys R Us in Stockport this afternoon to confirm my preorder and he said 'Oh the release date has been put back to the 11th'...
I think I'll call back tomorrow and speak to a manager who has hopefully got a brain cell..

Lol the 11th, I rang Gamestation in Stockport just after my friend had rung Game they said t hey didn't know how many units they were getting and that as soon as they know they will be making phone calls to advise people if they can pick up or not, they better get there ***** into gear as there are only 8 days left !!!

My local game told me that I should be fine for release day. I ordered mine in-store on the 1st of September, so should be fine.

Will see you all on PGR3 on release day by the looks of it.......

now where did I leave the cash for that Hi-D tv I was after.............

 

Game were also going to call to arrange collection at midnight!!!!

We'll see - bed is usually MUCH more important!!
