Whilst I still regard The Stone Roses highly and I listened to 'Substance' only yesterday; I spend most of my time listening to contemporary music. I suspect that a lot of people here spend more time listening to music that they liked when they were 15+ to the exclusion of pretty much all else. I first realised this talking to people about U2 a few months ago. In 1983 I loved U2, I saw them on the TUF and TJT tours, Wembley (2nd night) was brilliant, but they moved on and so did I; but a lot of people seem to have stayed right there.....

You have to really search these days for decent original material, a lot more than used to be the case, so I would imagine most people don't bother and stick with that which they know to be good.
