What is the problem with this patch? I can't even get the game to load now so I'm going to uninstall it and play without it. EA remind me of Novalogic when it comes to releasing crap all the time - why can't they test these things before releasing them?

Well, got BF2-SF installed and patched - tested SF on the SNAFU server tonight.
Looks like we'll be playing:
Tues - BF2
Thurs - BF2 SF
Sun - BF2
TBC

A few of us will be practicing SF on the SNAFU server tonight - will be great if we get a game going and can test this expansion in anger.

LEUVEN - hope you got it sorted, we ended up playing on another server, if you ever need to track any of us down use: http://www.game-monitor.com/ and search for "SNAFU"

Apparently people were coming in buying 4 or 5 copies of it! WTF? So get home and buy it off EA cos can't wait. Oh joy, a FIVE HOUR download, Jesus!
Come home from work this morning to install for a quick blast and... EA website is down so it won't install.
Is this game cursed? What's going on?
Other than, what's it like?!

The new maps, imo, are great fun, quite different to the existing ones - although dislike the one where you defend an aircraft carrier (loads of internal rooms). The new weapons make it interesting, new pros n cons.. flash bangs annoy the hell out me (when used against me ). The grappling hook and zip line are fantastic fun and the maps have been designed to force you to use them in places depending on your tactics - also one level you parachut in on spawn (as long as you hit 9 - otherwise, SPLAT!) SAS style!
Basically lovin' it - but general hooked on BF2

Looking forward to getting it up and running...
And know what you mean by "hooked" - girlfriend keeps having tantrums cos I "disappear" for hours on the computer and don't show her enough affection. I just don't want her spoiling it and getting used to affection, cos as soon as we're married that'll HAVE to change!

Got SF from work, not in today so will have it tomorrow though and will be able to give it a bash. Done nothing apart from BF2 all weekend and am getting much better (lol, now that I've found out how to use the unlocked weapons anyway!!) so you better watch yourselves

BF2 is still p[55]ing me off tho'
I fired a game up with SF and patch installed,
I was nearing a small hill when an enemy apeared only 5 or 6 metres away.
I dropped to the deck, opened fire (at least 9 bullets)
enemy fired back AFTER I should have killed him 6 times or something
So I fired another load of bullets (pellets ) and he eventually died.
Are the bullets based on real ones or are they plastic "safety" bullets?
as it just seems unbeleivably inaccurate that it should be like this.
Or am I a total n00b

lol Leuven m8, welcome to the BF
Seriously, if you're more than 20 mtrs away, make sure you are in single shot mode, and aim for the head. Only use burst for v close combat
Or be like DrEvil, and head for the armour

Is it just me or is it harder than BF2? Or am I jsut crap?!
really struggled with the initial night vision games and the carrier, people popping up everywhere, got massacred!
Interestingly after patch 1.12, game was very laggy, almost to the point of being unplayable until I put in another gig of RAM. Now it absolutely flies and am back to being the first person to spawn. Didn't believe that the RAM would make that much difference! Let's see if I can bu**er it up with upping the video and sound settings!
Very useful for getting to that armour first...
Will see you all Sunday as working Thursday night from 8

Dave - yup SF on Thursday (all updated on the webpage n stuff)
drjsd - SF is harder than BF2, the tactics are slightly different and the night levels are mad - I actually bump'd into the enemy several times (50/50 who got shot)
Good games tonight - thanks to all those that joined in

Very good games last night and a bit busier which was great. Had a quick play at SF and it does seem more difficult (more buttons to learn/config), but I'd say once you find out how the game flows and where to go etc that it should become easier. Lag is definately an issue for me (with 'only' 1gig) and three or four times the screen just froze for a couple of seconds. I also had two crash to desktop moments which I never had with vanilla BF.
