I had a UK Wagon. Drove it for just over 14 months and covered approx. 16 000 miles. On average I would get 240 miles from the 50L tank. Mainly commuting to work and back (20 mile round trip) with little traffic and a nice A road.

If I was really really lucky I would sometimes get around 270 and ONCE I got 290miles.

Worst was 170 I think with a couple of 190s. My driving was very mixed so I think a good indicator.

Two things to consider: The heavy clutch was cr*p though and you can forget flooring it when taking off from a roundabout or intersection like you do with a regular car. The Scoob requires a lot more respect because do that and it spends a few seconds winding up and then suddenly takes off. Scared the holy sh*t outa my wife when she tried it. She drove really carefully and slowly - but when approaching a roundabout she floored it to enter a gap in the traffic and nearly had heart failure.

Hope that helps.

Scoobs are no problem to drive.
Like all cars, make sure you are in the right gear and away you go.

Cool

Get a UK car that has never been played with and hopefully not thrashed , It will run happily on unleaded, if you want to run it on opti / bp it will go a bit better , keep it serviced, with a good oil, Your local scoob / peformance garage would probably be best all round, but if you want to keep a bit more resale value, dealership servicing still seems to add for some unknown reason :-)
It won`t be as economical as a TDI sat in traffic, but once she gets the hang of getting it off the line , it will be far more fun launching into gap`s, You may also think about getting a padded cage for the dog :-) as you may find yourself taking him for far more walks in open countryside with nice quiet, camera free roads, (50miles to take him there , let him out for a pi*s then turn round go home, yes missis the dog had a great walk, I`m knackered pass me a can,)
Have a good one
Tim
